not mopar but wanna get some tips

i have a '99 s10 blazer thats my daily driver. i wanna put a 'rack' on top of it. like the ones you see on 4x4s i will put my spare in it. any tips? i will fab it and am looking at putting it in the stock mount spots. this is a pic of the kinda thing i wanna do.

i have never fab'd something this big so wanna see if any one has tips?
