i am on my 3rd 66 a car, the last two have been 2dr darts. one was wrecked avoiding killing a kid on a motorcycle(old darts dont stop as fast as crotch rockets) and the last broad sided an old man in a rental car running a red arrow to make the turn in front of me, whacked him doing 45 on my way to the track. at least i got over 10g's for the car on that one, as well as a case of full spinal whiplash and a couple of busted up rotator cups and therapy 3x a week. nice lawsuit pending there. enough crying over spilled milk.
i bought a pretty sweet 66 2dr post valliant(170 autocolumn) from cecil a few weeks ago, and have since began the process of the brakes, front end, rear end, motor, etc..starting over from scratch
the last 66 was running 12.80s at 106 with a mild 360, mag heads, low gear 904 w/stock convertor and open 7.25 with 3.23s. had the 69 340 manifolds on it as well. installed the new motor, slightly more agressive 373 (yes, 373, not 273) which is a o deck .030 340 with 360 crank in it, mild custom cam hyd. from reed,(228/232-.480/.486 w/1.5s) 915 factory equiped 2.02 heads (new valves, seats, guides, springs etc..) air gap and same tranny rear end. still ran 12.80s, only with taller tires 26"mickeys instead of 23.5" hoosiers. with the same 340 manifolds.
on to the real questions: has anyone bought/installed the tti's fot the early cars? i ordered a set through (sc)amcini as well as the "special starter" only to find out on the day they were supposed to be delivered that they are on back order. they (mancini) were more than happy to take over $1,000 plus shipping for the headers/starter. i called them and they said they could credit my card and take me OFF the waiting list. what kind of crap is that?
I called tti yesterday and thay said the headers should ship on may 15th. i ordered/paid for the stuff on april 10th! has any one else had similar treatment trying to get these headers/starter? i am not whining about the price of the stuff, wanna play, gotta pay. but would expect some closure a little sonner forking over a grand for some tubes and a starter.
have also picked up a few more goodies for the motor/tranny such as some 1.6 crane gold aluminum adjustable rockers, the 24-2500 mp convertor, all the parts to build an 8.75 with 3.55s and sure grip, new set of xhd springs, shackles, shock plates. tranny already had manual valve body.

i think i need to switch to a floor shift to run these headers?(if they ever show up) car is already manual steer. i am installing the drop steering link during the front end rebuild. will butcher a tranny cross member in hopes of needing it.
looks like im gona finish the steering, susp, brake upgrade, and rear/spring install and be running the 170 till tti gets here, then goes in the 373. i only want to do the motor wrestling once.
thanks for reading/input guys.

Sounds like a nice ride.. Post some pics of your car so we can give it a look. I waited several months to get a set of Spitfire headers, but they were COD. Mike

1st wresk was not an option, either run over a kid on a crotch rocket who slammed his brakes and kill him, or ditch the car. i found another car, the kid couldnt find another life. not so many bikers would be as fortunate.
the march 14th wreck was me going east through an intersection under a green lite, and old man in rental going west, he turned left (running the red arrow) in front of me and i had about 2 seconds to say you dumb bast-crash. and t boned the guy. he got the ticket for failure to yield r.o.w. and his ins. paid over $10,000 for my car. i did pull the new motor/tranny and install a painted to look like the 373, pos 318 with some old chrome valve covers and a pos torker intake before they hauled it off. i generally drive like a grandma on the street, and take it to the track 2x a week for stres relief.
as soon as i figure out how to use this flippin dig camera of the wife's and post pics it will happen.
i have considered the spitfire's, but outrun guys with them installed with the old 340 manifolds (by better than 1/2 a sesond) and they had more cam, convertor, and sure grip. thought about the hookers, but i have to cut the fenderwells for headers it isn't gona be for a small block.
anyone actually have the tti's?

Dave from this thread http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=13213 has a set of them, and some pics. I have seen a couple of posts that there is a few guys that do have them.
One of the local guys here where I live is waiting for a set as well. I have to order a set myself, but with the delivery times, i'm sceptical.
On the starter issue, it seems some guys have used a regular mini starter and got it to work. He also posted pics of it! I was unable to find them on a search as I can't remember what board it was that I saw them.
