I have a NV 3500 5 speed out of a 96 1/2 ton pick-up.Has anyone done this swap.The recipient of this tranny would be my 64 Valiant, at present powered by 273 2bbl. Considering a swap to a swirl port headed 360.Does anyone know what this trans will handle,horse power-wise? It was a 1/2 ton truck. I thought the hydraulic clutch woul make it a little easier.Any thoughts? 8)

Well, that first gear will definitely get you out of the hole quick! Maybe too quick...good for stump pullin', though 
Here's the gear ratios:
1st 4.01
2nd 2.32
3rd 1.40
4th 1.00
5th 0.73
Compare that to an overdrive A-833:
1st 3.09
2nd 1.67
3rd 1.00
4th 0.73

it probably won't be anywhere near being able to fit in the transmission tunnel. you need an A-833...and even that is tight in the tunnel but it does fit.
