is it possible to put a newer O.D. transmision in a 70 duster, if so what would you all need thanks.

A friend of mine put a A518(46RH) in his 67Barracuda behind a 360. To make room for the larger tail piece (compared to a 727) he had to split the tunnel from just below the dash to several inches past the torsion bar cross member. Cut the torsion bar cross member and open the area up about 2". He then welded new metal back in to close the area up and tie the cross memeber back together.

The tranny in this application oes not automtically shift into OD, he has a switch mounted on the dash to activate it. Also the tranny he used didn't have a lock up torque converter so he didn't have to deal with wiring to make that work.

You might also want to look into a gear vendors unit. It will spare you from butchering the tranny tunnel and they claim thier units are good for 1200 hp.

Jet also has a control unit for the A-518 swap that gets rid of toggle switches and is adjustable for whichever speed you want the OD to kick on and off.
