Hey Guys,

There are a lot of experts here, so again I need some finishing thoughts and honest opinions again. We have a grudge match brewing at work, and a lot of bull talk, and probably some time in March or April we are going to get it on and settle everything. One guy that works for me has an 87 Firebird with a 350, stock heads(so he says) .455 lift cam, 700R4 trans, 2400 stall converter and 3.23 gears. He is a Chevy nut, and thinks he is going to hand me my ***. He says he runs 8.20 in the 1/8th, which is what w'ell be racing. I sold him my 750 Demon DP as well. However I've also heard he only runs nines in the 8th mile and he is not quite honest in his time. Employee 2 however has a pretty serious ride. '03 Cobra, lots of boost, exhaust and the works. I've ridden in his car and it runs really strong. (We thumped another guys LS1 on nitrous). He claims 487 at the rear wheels. However I know he has serious traction issues. He is less of a bullshitter and I tend to believe him more than the Chevy guy. Now my setup:

360 Magnum block bored .030
Eagle 4.00 crank
Eagle I-beam rods
Protru forged pistons
chrome moly rings
block zero decked
Windage tray
Milodon 8 quart pan
ATI Balancer
ARP main and head bolts
Eddy heads out of box, no porting
Hughes Roller Cam, Lobe Separation 110 degrees
Installed centerline 107 degrees
Lobe Lift .350 intak .370 exh.
.525 intake lift
.555 exh. lift
That's spec'd with 1.5 rockers, I have 1.6 rollers
duration @ .050 242 intake 246 exhaust
Hughes matching valvesprings, seat pressure set at Hughes recommendations by my machine shop
M1 intake
MSD "Ready to Run" Ignition
TTI Step headers
QuickFuel Q series 750 DP
A998 Trans w/2.74 first gear
CRT Manual Valve Body w/Low Band Apply
Dynamic 9 1/2 converter, 3700 stall
Super Stock Leafs w/pinion snubber
3.91 Sure Grip
BF Drag Radials, 26 in. diameter.

Thanks and Sorry for the Long Post!

My opinion, for what it's worth, you'll blow off the Firechicken in the first 60 feet and he'll never catch ya, but the Cobra could be a different story. If he does have 487HP at the rear wheels, which I seriously doubt since that would make it around 550hp at the flywheel, he'll go up in a cloud of smoke unless he leaves in second gear. The reason I say "seriously doubt" is I've driven the supercharged Cobra with an upgraded blower and it was supposed to have 575HP at the flywheel but to me it didn't feel like no 575, in other words it didn't plant me in the seat. Either way you should be able to plant the Cobra off the line but he'll be breathing up your backside at the end.

It depends on what body this combo goes in. In an A-body, I'm thinking 7.40's. In a E-body, 7.90's.

Yeah, I've got an extra 100 shot of Nitrous if I need it, however I've never used it and didn't want to resort to that unless I needed it. The Cobra is fast, however I know as I've ridden in it and I know he has little traction. He is a good kid actually and no mouth. But the Chevy guy and his friends of course think that a 350 Chevy will beat anything. Especially his poor white trash buddy. I did thell the Firechicken guy that he'd probably be better off with a Pontiac engine anyway, but, you know, you can't tell some of those guys anything.

It's in a 68 Barracuda. I also went from power steering to manual, hopefully maybe I lost a little weight, not much, but every bit counts.
