One day I went to start the car and it cranked really slow.
I had noticed one day about the same time my stereo was making a hissing noise even with it turned off.

Turns out after using a test light between the battery positive and the cable and disconnecting things, that the memory power for the stereo was the culprit.

Somehow the memory function that retains stations and settings has crossed over causing the internal amp to stay live and drain the battery.

If I disconnect the memory wire from power the unit loses settings, but doesn’t drain the battery.
The memory function is normally only supposed to use a very small amount of power.
Never seen that one before.
I have wanted a newer stereo anyway.

I have been considering a Bluetooth amp, since I never listen to the radio and rarely play a CD.
I pretty much only use the Bluetooth function and my phone.

I only posted about this because it was such an odd electrical issue.

I disconnect the battery when not driving. I put in a new stereo in the Dart but never listen to it. Took the antenna off to put on car cover.
