I wanted a formed tank ... Close looking to the factory... So I installed this MA2235S OER yesterday from Classic Industries.. (The "S" on the end of part number it is for a stick shift.... It would be an "A" for an automatic transmissions)
Not quite the "bolt in" they claimed... Their bolt holes had the radiator .900 above where it need to be in order to shut the hood !!!! A few cuss words later and it was in place... (Nice i have a Bridgeport mill in my garage) Then I adapted my 1965 cuda's fan shroud to fit by making different brackets.... However, the clutching fan is a little close... does clear and works... But I ordered the Hayden 2947 clutch unit in from Rock Auto as it will put the aluminum bladed fan just were I want it... Finally added fluid, fired it up... No leaks and it was 99 degrees yesterday here in Phoenix so I took it out for a test run before it gets hotter... Oh man, did it run cool !!!! Two pictures.... ⚓

The top tank looks way better than the flat aluminum radiators most are made out of.

cost?

Also why don't you paint it black so it looks original?

I almost did paint it black... Painted the front core flat black so it will look right though my front grill... But decided to leave top tank natural for now... It looks cool... Matches my air cleaner one friend said...

It was $369 delivered... And that's the Sale price... Listed for $399... I know... Ouch!!! But I Liked it enough to pull the trigger.... Eating Beans for the rest of the month !!!!! ⚓

Seems like a fair price. Getting an original radiator re-cored is about the same.

Filling that gap between the upper radiator shroud and radiator will help with idle temps.

Did not have a overheating problem even at idle with the original radiator with Factory equipped fan shroud!!! It's just with over 400 Thousand miles on my old girl... The structural integrity of mostly the lower tank just Gave out and would cost more to keep fixing... ( I may fix it down the road at some time) I put the Factory shroud back on ONLY for the factory look... As the Original shroud is somewhat rare... Please note that in the attached photo to this message... That "same space" is there... Mother Mopar designed it that way... I'm not altering it's visual looks... Also note I did not cut or drill or modify the shroud in any way, other then changing out the factory attaching hard ware... As there was no way to use the original attaching clamps on the aluminum unit, that by the way is working very well... It's taking me way longer to even get up to operating temperature!!! Temps yesterday were over the 100 mark here...So, I'm Very pleased so far... But may paint the tank "black" and then most won't even know it's Not the Factory tank... But for now, having fun showing the aluminum color... Bring on 115 temps !!!!
Autoxcuda, thanks for your input though...⚓

I'm not super familiar with the early A shrouds. But i do know they are rare and hard to find.

That aluminum radiator you have looks great! The cheap China Champion ones (i run one) look and fit lousy and forget about fitting the factory shroud.

I just saw you're in Phoenix and know how people struggle with cooling there.

Factory units can be improved if needed. Foam seal between shroud and radiator and between radiator and radiator support.

Also running water (reverse osmosis) and a good radiator additive cools better than antifreeze and water.

I use Justice Brothers brand Super Radiator Cooler in my 416 with aluminum: radiator, heads, intake, water pump. 2-3 years and clear with inside of radiator spotless.

Update... Got the Hayden 2947... It works great.... And I have between .800 & .850 clearance between fan clutch and radiator...
Picture is of the Mopar original 1965 fan clutch (right) and the new Hayden unit on the (left), You can see the shorter length of the Hayden unit.⚓

Well, after a couple of weeks... I'm really loving my "Made in the USA" OER Authorized Radiator with "two" 1 inch cores. And the Hayden 2947 radiator Fan Clutch... Great combo... It has proven itself in the Phoenix Arizona ~Heat~
Money well spent ... And now onto other projects... Hope this info helps someone⚓

@clifcuda65 Its been 4 years since this post and was wondering how things are working.

My wife and I took the 68 GTS to a cruise night the other evening. 90 degrees and stuck in traffic the temp needle was at the top of the heat gauge. Looking at radiators and stuff but want to keep the stock look.

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm in the same boat as you Cliff. Went to a cruise last night and my stock temp gauge was right about where yours is. I do have a mechanical gauge and it was reading mostly around 210-220 but did get as warm as 228 at some lights. I have a brand new stock style brass radiator and a 7 blade clutch fan with shroud. First thing I'm going to look at is my thermostat which I have no idea what I have.

@1971 CY Dodge Dart mine is the stock radiator and a Stant 180 degree thermostat. New hoses and on the cool ride home from Torrington to Windsor Locks it ran just fine.

I see your also from the Connecticut area, where are?

Damn, I think your motor's sexy! :lol::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Which fan is that? Is there a part#? Thanks
That is the early A-Body (1965 in my case) Heavy Duty cooling package when you ordered factory A/C along with the Two piece Metal fan Shroud and 17" seven blade thermostatic cluching fan... sorry I don't have the part number :(
