I have a 408 stroker that will be running a solid roller cam.
I tried buying a Milodon Oil Pump Driveshafts 21535 assembly from both summit and jeggs only to find out that its back ordered until sometime in May or June. Of course the Mopar performance one is available for around $75 more. I know I can buy the gear separate but feel better with both new and matched. Anyone know where I can get the milodon driveshaft or is my only other option the mopar performance?
Thanks
Rod

Pricing on these things is nuts.....Forgive me, but i have to ask. Are you sure your roller doesn't have a cast gear that's compatible with a regular shaft?

You can buy just the gear and remove your steel gear and swap it out using the same shaft. Problem with that is the holes in the gear vs the shaft never line up and you will have an issue re pinning it. That is my experience trying to do it. I ended up buying the MP performance unit. It's highway robbery but we have no choice since it's not Chevys we work on.......

You do have a choice, but it's when ordering the cam. Tell the. You want a intergrated cast iron gear on it so you can have regular intermidate shaft (though I'd run a harden shaft).

It depends how radical you go. Most cam grinders won't do that when entering that zone. There was a thread about that if you do a search. I thought max was about 550 lift and 230 ish @ 50 IIRC for that gear and not using brass.

I already have the cam so its to late for a cam change. I checked with Mancini and their milodon is 30+ $$ more. I will check with some local speed shops to see if they may stock one. I may be forced to spend the extra money for the Mopar Performance. Pinning the gear to the used shaft is the concern of the engine builder.
Any other suggestions?

Just lay the $75 for the MP unit. Otherwise it's $30+ for the gear package and then your machinist's labor to make it usable. The difference will liekly be less than $15. You're already in for the penny with the solid roller - just spend the pound.

The first retro fit roller cam I bought for my motor didn't have a the intergrated gear on it. So I sent it back (cost me shipping and a restocking fee). Ordered the cam with the intergrated gear on it. I lost $45 bucks 4 hours of my time finding the cam I wanted/needed (was a lot different then from today) and a week in shipping. Just saying.

I broke down and ordered the milodon from Mancini, cost and extra $30 plus I have to pay shipping. Dont understand why they are so hard to get! Sometimes I hate owning a Dodge!

You'll like owning a Mopar again once you fire up that stroker and go for a drive....TRUST me. :-D

Comp cams sells just the bronze gear for ~ $40, it's not too hard to press on and align the hole for the spring pin
