Oil Slinger hits timing chain

-
I had a problem with the slinger rattling. Turns out my new balancer had a slightly shorter snout and would not seat against the crank sprocket.

I think I have the same problem
. I have engine in car. Can I remove timing cover and water
Pump without dropping the oil pan?
Just be attentive when you reinstall the cover and check the alignment of the timing cover oil seal with the crank; make sure the seal is well centered around the crank so you don't have a seal leak.

They all had either the hollow bolt, or that hole left open from the factory
NOT true. seen plenty without either, as a matter of fact, I have never seen a SB with this. I will admit it has just been a few, less then 12, but I never seen it.
