I have a 318 that I'm doing a rebuild on. finishing up putting her together over the next few days. I'll be putting a double roller timing chain in. Should I install the oil slinger for the crankshaft? or am I going to run into clearance issues?

Thanks in advance..

I use the slinger and the bolt with a hole bored through on the cam thrust plate also. you want everything to oil real good. you wont have any clearance problems.

Seeing as how lots of small blocks came with double rollers straight from Chrysler with the slinger, go for it. Like jimmy said, don't forget the bolt with the hole through it.

I've got the oil drip plate Instead of the bolt with the hole. some came with the drip plate instead.

is it mainly big blocks that have the clearance issues.?

There's only clearance issues if you put the slingers on backwards!

Without the slinger,, you end up with miss-aligned pulleys...

That is too funny.... You do realize that some people are going to take that seriously...lol

I just removed my slinger last night because it was making a racket.
Aftermarket dampners snout is not quite long enough to seat against the
Slinger
