Got this nice set up off of member Woody30. Not a whole lot of info on these so this thread will hopefully help others that want to run them on a SB. These were sold through the Direct Connection Hustle stuff P part program in the mid 70's through early 80's as a race replacement for the stock vacuum carbs. the stock vacuum carbs rated at 1350cfm flow about a true 950cfm, these rated at 1355 cfm flow about 1150.

I helped a friend set one of those kits up on his six pack car about 1981 or so. We had a lotta fun with it.

I'm using the mopar intake, talked to two well known shops about porting it. One said $650 fully ported, and the other said all that can really be done to it is a deep gasket match. I believe the second guy i spoke to and did just that on my own. Not the greatest with core shift and all but i did open the area pretty good and deep! talked to someone also that had it extrude honed for about $450 so that can be done if your going for every last HP

not much can be done through the top, some small short turn radius work where you can reach...and a miner steep smoothed out just under the throttle blades.

Nice! I'll trade you. Lol
will see how it runs first, need to figure out what i'm going to do with the tri power " Mr. Norms " air cleaner. no drop in filter and from the looks of it i need to stay under 2" to close my hood :sad10:

 Nice work & I'm confident you'll like the 6pk :)

Cleaned them up using simple green and a crock pot, 50/50 mix about 1 hour in the hot brew. there wasn't much of the original finish on the outside but the simple green didn't eat away any of the coating on the inside. Use at your own risk!!! before i cleaned them i smoothed out the casting line just under the boosters on the venturi wall, also smoothed out any casting on the boosters and very lightly cleaned up the top of the booster lip. last thing was to "round off" the sharp edges and the choke tower above the booster. Center carb will not have the choke plate but will still use the choke stove to set the fast idle and will still have the choke pull off to kick it off hi idle. I'll get some part numbers in the next day or so.

I run those cabs on my 440-6 "Cuda. I like them much better than the vacuum secondary carbs. You'll probably want to put a wide band on it to help dial them in. Once set-up right, they are awesome! I had mine gone through at Promax and had Hughes deep port the intake. You just have to learn how to drive them, because even my 493 inch stroke doesn't like them mashed open at too low of an rpm. Well, actually in first or second it doesn't really matter.

I was going to use the fuel line in the second picture, but ended up going with three individual 6 AN's for more fuel flow.

Mine should be ok on the SB, the 4,400 rpm stall converter should help a lot. I am thinking about the wide band, but for this year just trying to get it to run good and I am not going to even attempt to "super tune it " without the wide band A/F meter

Got her on the engine and just finished adjusting the kickdown, i didn't want or like the stock type 6 pack lines so i went with a modified Ford SB tri carb fuel log. I'm replacing the stock fuel line with 3/8" line that will feed to a 90* into the log where its 5/16" to the carbs, it will also be easier to jet with this setup if i have to take on or off. Had to notch the V/C by the throttle bracket. Mocked up the air cleaner and can only fit a 1 3/4" tall filter which is not great. Not sure I'm in love with the 340+6 decals on the V/C.. What do you think?

The t-stat housing is the early pre 66 or so BB mopar type to clear the carb due to the metering block.

anyone interested in a filter for the norms Tri Power air cleaner if i make a few extra?

That fuel log is going to heat soak bad off the valve covers. Best move it up and away and insulate it.

I'll have to see what happens, I'm not using a mechanical pump and the fuel should be cool untill it goes to the log
