These car carriers used to drive down our road in the morning and back the other way in the afternoon. The Chargers and police cars would then be wrecked of course. Usually there was another car carrier with a few more police cars and Daisy's car being it the Jeep or the roadrunner.

We used to watch some of the filming. They had guys on the staff who did nothing but rake leaves and spread them on the dirt road between takes so that when the cars would race by you'd see leaves flying up. I used to think, "Huh, my dad makes me rake leaves all the time but I'll bet the studio pays better..."

A lot of Chargers gone.

Imagine bein somebody seein all that that knew nothing about the show.

Back stories are often interesting than what is on film.
Thanks for that pic.

I'm sure they were re-using the same cars over and over till there was nothing left. After a while it must have been like the movie 'Groundhog Day' for the guys that fixed them.

I lived in Westlake Village in Southern California. The big studio lot was an open piece of land off East Carlisle Rd off Decker Canyon Rd. It's all developed now I heard. We used to drive back and park on Carlisle and walk back on the lot to watch. They would just tear those cars up.

I worked in a local upscale toy store that my buddy's family owned for a year. During that time they decided to sell go-carts modeled after movie cars. The family settled on Tattoo's car from Fantasy Island to have in the store as a floor model. After contacting the manufacturer, they told them that the only built one available for display was on the movie lot in town for publicity photos.

They rented a stake bed truck and he and I drove down to pick it up. Nobody could find the go-cart and we were escorted all around the lot trying to find it. It was pretty cool. Funny thing is as we drove by Hervé Villechaize's dressing motor home (with a graphic of him on the side), he was standing in the doorway pulling his fly up. I mean you can't help but look at the rig when you drive by and there he was.

At one point we were taken down to the garages where we saw a bunch of the Chargers scattered around in various stages of body repair. Most had Bondo all over them. I wish I could find the photo I took of that. Long story short there was speculation that the Fantasy Island producer or director took the go-cart and gave it to grandkids and we never did get it but got a new one a month later.

Very cool pic, for sure:cheers:
Thanks for sharing it with us.

I never seen anything like that or have cool stories to tell, but I always wanted to see Daisy's boobs. Does that count for something?

Your wish is my command, RustyRatRod and JimJimJimmy. Need to go to Blue Forum, see Mmmmmm...Boobies or something like that. Sorry for putting off, don't want for admin to have a cow.
