Hello,
I was wondering about putting together some shelf-parts; a 2.76 ratio in a 8.75" .489 rear end with a sure-grip cone diff.

The car is used for cruising and some tire-shredding fun, and runs a souped-up 360 with a 727, 2400 Hughes stall converter.
Rear end is 3.23 and peg-leg diff. Think it would be nice with the lower gearing for highway cruising and a little better fuel economy.

What do you guys think about such a combo?

I have one for sale....2.76.

Need 3.23.

Reason: Want to spin tires off once I get to where I drove and don't care if I lose 2-3 mpg doing it. :toothy9:

It's to bad it's not a quick change....back and forth.

Stay with the 3.23 and drive slower to the destination...you don't want some mustang showing up and smoking you off the line:angel9:

If youve got more than one center section just run a quick change setup. Going to the track put in 391 but when not doing that just swap the center for either gear 323 or 276 though a 294 would be better than the 276

Thanks for the replies. I think my li'l Dart has enough rubber-burning, Mustang-punishing potential even with a 2.76 - it runs a lot of highway miles.

The little MPG gain with the 2.76 is just a benefit - here in denmark, the gasoline price is about 2,50 $....per liter!
