I want to use a unique air cleaner lid on my 6 bbl. The engine has a lot of aluminum on it and I think the stock painted lid would look out of place.

I noticed you called your induction system the correct term, "6 barrel" because you have a Plymouth. I know it really doesn't matter but I just wanted you to know that it didn't go unnoticed. I like that "Super Commando" motor you have there also or did it come out of a Dodge and it is just a "Magnum", LOL.

Man, I can't decide what you should run, I have enough trouble deciding what I am going to run. I'm sure you will make the right choice, you've done pretty good so far.

I know what you mean. All Mopar diehards 1st "kneejerk" reaction would be would to harrass you about the Triangle (GM) piece being used on a Mopar. I like the idea of my car being noticed, but not that way.

I also think the factory Air Cleaner covers up too much of the beauty of the 6-pack. With it in place, you can hardly see the carbs and only a little of the intake. I always wondered if anyone would make one about 1/2 the size exactly for that reason.

That being said, I've found a few older custon peices at swap meets that I thought showed off the setup better. Here's a picture of one. Was told they came off cars from Mr. Norms dealership. (I can neither confirm, nor deny this LOL)

DUDE..... If you have it in your possession right now, how much for the raw-finish set-up?

I've seen the individual air cleaners on e-Bay, but it just grinds my balls to shuck out $175 for them.... I can remember when you could buy those for your Pinto "back in the day...." for $8 apiece.

If I can't "acquire" the aforementioned lid, I'll probably go with the stocker. Unless I get the crazy idea of making my.... hey, I wonder?

I don't have any of the aluminum ones. I saw 3 of them last year in Ohio at the swap meet in Columbus. I see them occasionally, and the next 340 6-pack I run, that's what it'll have. I used to have a 6-pack that I put a hidden Nitrous setup under the intake, but never got to see how it really run. Picture is of One I found on the net that I believe to be the same one I plumbed! Had the setup on my Duster without the NOS. Ran great!
I'm collecting parts right now. Trying to "acquire" my old 73 340, 4-speed Duster that's sitting (for 5 years) that's still in Missouri. Old story applies here, "son is going to restore it for 1st car..." Hopefully the gentleman that owns it will realize how much it will take to put back on the road and sell it to me reasonably. Hoping to have it again after 24 years apart. I brought it from Lompoc California to Missouri in 1983.
If your interested in that setup, I'm sure I'll find a few more over the course of the summer. If your really interested, I could contact you when I find them. Let me know of a contact number I can reach you @ when I'm out scrounging parts. Last one I saw was the bare Aluminum setup without the filter element, It went for $110, I think. Let me know if your serious about getting one. JOE

Here's the last one from me, I promise. Not sure if it is the $300 setup, but at least it allows you to show off more of your setup. It's nice to be able to see all the hard earned $$$ under your Air Cleaner. I'm sure there are others, but these are all that I have. Maybe someone has a Custom/hand made setup they could show us.

I've been hitting e-Bay and googling and nuthin!!!!!!!! I'll probably go with the stock set up for now. I know I'll find one.... just a matter of the `ol "right place right time" deal I guess.

Thanks for posting the pictures.
