I had a Matador for a secondary beater back in the day. Armstrong steering. Kept up its end of the bargain and took its beatings.

Watched the "Cars 2" DVD the other night. Laughed my *** off seeing that all the "bad guys" were all AMC products. Totally hilarious.

My Dad drove Ambassador and Matador wagons for company cars in the 70s. They always needed to be worked on. He was so well known at the service department they'd come get him and bring him home. I'd go with and hang out in the showroom, much to the salesmen's chagrin I'm sure.

My favorite car back then was a Pacer. Funny, I've never driven or ridden in one.

A friend had a 360 Hornet years ago back in the early 80's. He was very hard to beat with a small block. It was a factory performance car and he still owns it today with several other AMC's

Check this out.

Jim, 76 Matador woodie, was used by Air Force to tow items around on the base and in parades. While it ran, it shuddered. Wasn't a tune-up it needed but something in the trans let go and took out the thrust bearing in the engine. Was going to be a 360,4-bbl.,727 for the Hornet. Back to the drawing board.

Currently have this ones 1971 Javelin base model with 232 and 3spd auto. Previous owner made it into a T Top. Also working on a 72 Javelin SST that has a 401 in it and gonna install an AW4 soon.
