Winds from earlier in the day fueled it. Jumped the Spokane River and is burning on the Reservation. From what I read earlier it is over 5000 acres and has created its own winds...

Stay safe. You have an escape plan ready?
From what the news is saying it is about 20 miles or so to the west...earlier today the winds were from the SW, which would put it in our direction. But last I was outside the winds were blowing from the south...most of the day we had some faint smoke in our 'hood...but it has cleared out...

Winds shifted...getting some smoke...and ash....more than a bit concerned...

yikes - YIKES - is it still 20 some miles away or.. ???
No, it closed in some. Crews have been released from a couple other fires...less smoke than last night. Was really hoping that we would make it thru the summer without any large fires.
Drove thru the Devils Gap area on Saturday. There was a fire there last year. The area that burned has been logged. Only thing left is several large slash piles. The area at the top of our 'hood that burned hasn't been touched. Just acres of a disaster in the making. Damn shame the property owner doesn't care enough to at least take the trees down...

Not really. My truck is torn apart, replacing injectors.
I have a doctorsappointment today. Unsure if we should leave the house. Our fire chief is really good about keeping his Facebook group updated. Last update he said that it is 0% contained but the fires activity has died off.
Winds have dropped off completely. Air temperature has dropped...alot. Smoke has increased some but considering the amount of vegetation in the area it is not surprising.
Sadly no rain is in the 10 day forecast.

Ugh. That's mighty close, Doug. Yall be safe man.

If it were me, I'd look at the area maps, have you some escape routes and the import documents, family pics etc in a box, ready to put in the car at a moments notice, along with a few changes of clothes and food. Then based on the escape routes and the fire's location, draw a drop dead line that if the fire crosses, you all leave regardless. Houses, cars, possessions can be replaced.

And the local news is fairly silent on all of it. And can't get the facts straight...one is saying 0%contained...another 30%.
We live in Stevens County Fire District 1. On our way home today there was 8-9 trucks with at least 35 fire fighters hanging out at the one station. They have been patrolling the 231-291 corridors. Great time for my truck to be torn to pieces...

Is their a state emergency app for the area? I have a County one that sends alerts and updates about fires in the region.

We have something called Hyperreach. I have signed up for it several times....neighbors have received calls in the past but we never have. An escaped felon was reported to be in the area...one neighbor got a call, the rest of us didn't.
I downloaded the hyperreach app...have no clue if it actually works

It is about 5 mile from us....as the crow flies. It has not been very active..

JHC, get your **** in a bag and stand by! We had a fire (blue cut) down here, went from 30 to 300, to 30,000 acres in a matter of 24 hours, most of that was inside 12 hrs. Fire marshal told lady to grab a bag only and get the hell out. She watched the fire burn her house from her sisters car driving down the driveway. >300 buildings burned, 105 were homes. Bro in laws cousins house burned in the Cobb fire. Dont mess around....

Just got back home, took a drive over that direction. Spent some time talking to the manger of all the farm fields. He said its progress towards us, eastward, has been just stopped for now. We had some rain a couple of weeks ago, the undergrass in the area is wet so the fire can't get running like it did the day before. The field separating the Little Falls dam area, where it is burning now and my direction is still green....he said the fire was very lazy today thanks to the moisture. It is about 5 miles from us at this point. He was told that the aircraft will be up at first light...which is good because the area where it is at is extremely difficult to get to. He told me that on Sunday, when it jumped the river it was frightening. They heard it coming. And there was no stopping it as it was getting pushed by a 30mph tailwind. He was told that it was started by a farmer working on a combine out in his field...

Drove down Little Falls Road at 11 last night. By Little Falls there was all kind of fire activity. Drove down there at 6 this morning...no fire....lots of smoldering but 0 fire activity. Drove clear thru the fire area to where things were green..no fire activity at all...no crews....noticed back on the east side, where I live noticed that the farmers were all throwing water on the fields. Lot of green fields between us and the fire. 0 winds so far today. Get some smoke every now & then but no ash...Stevens County Fire District has said that the fire is staying put...very little movement...
