Out of control fire....

Drove down Little Falls Road at 11 last night. By Little Falls there was all kind of fire activity. Drove down there at 6 this morning...no fire....lots of smoldering but 0 fire activity. Drove clear thru the fire area to where things were green..no fire activity at all...no crews....noticed back on the east side, where I live noticed that the farmers were all throwing water on the fields. Lot of green fields between us and the fire. 0 winds so far today. Get some smoke every now & then but no ash...Stevens County Fire District has said that the fire is staying put...very little movement...
That's good news

Fire Chief just posted that the winds will be shifting...

Hope this gets rids of the smoke...time will tell what it does in regards to fire activity...

For whatever the reason the Reservation is still very tight lipped on what is going on fire wise. They split the fire into two, the fire on the Reservation has a different name....

Thanks for your concern...

you can see the split in the wind forecast, correct?

Towards the west...still very slightly hazed to our south...but only very slightly. Latest news report, for what it is worth, was 30% containment on the Reservation fire and 10% on the Hart Road fire. Reservation has dropped the evacuate from mandatory to "be ready". The power company has replaced the burnt poles, reservation has power. Later today I am going to try and take a drive down Little Falls Road to see how it looks. Thanks for your concern...

I have lived here since 08. Have been past Little Falls Road hundreds of times yet never been down it. The area looks like it would be a nice motorcycle ride....

If that's what the vegetation is like all the way around your house, I'd say you're pretty safe.

That's where I mowed this spring. Sadly thanks to numerous disasters I never got the rest of it mowed. We have a rather dense area of trees that I have been thinning out over the last several winters...but it still needs a ton of work. Directly across the road is an open field..the vegetation is knee deep clear down to the lake...east of us is an un-mowed parcel that is knee deep...and littered with dead trees...

Last year we had several fires in our 'hood. One of them burned a hundred+ acres.

Property owner, I don't think they are local, has not touched it. Every tree on it is pretty much dead. And the vegetation has returned with a vengeance. A few of the trees will be on the road if we get any snow this winter. Several of us were concerned with the ash falling over the past couple days. Was reports of embers just a mile or so from this area.

We've been dealing with this situation down here in Monterey. The Soboranes fire is over 88,000 acres and the chimney fire is about to merge with it. I've been following this site.

BigSurKate

I don't know where she gets the heat index maps and the proposed fire line maps, but all her info is way more informative than anything the press has. Some of the fire line maps are very detailed. You could try to e-mail her and see if she has any advice on where to get the up to date info. My truck is still covered in ash when I leave for work in the morning. damn tourists or transients and their illegal camp fires.

Thank You for the info. I will try to get in touch with her.

Every now & then we see some smoke to the west....but nothing compared to what it has been. Fire jumped back over the river today...but the fire crews were waiting for it.
