Man these dogs can eat! 31.1 lb bag last about 12 to 13 days. I wish I could get good food in bulk.
I hear ya!! Mine go through 2 bags in about 3 weeks. Is it just me or have the bags gotten smaller lately while staying at the same price??
I have 5 beagles that go threw some food also..
Our 4 dauchands go thru a 12 pound bag in about 2 weeks
Find a rural king, thats where I go, 40-50 pounds bags is usally what I get but they have alot of stuff. I know my little monster needs to stop eatting
My daughter was home for Christmas with her 100 lb. dog. They had to put gravy on his food to get him to eat it,next day he wouldn't eat his food at all. This is not because he is in a strange place,he does this at home ,too. :dontknow:

Joe, have you heard of this? It's supposed to be all natural pet food, and it's really close to home. (If the link brings up a blank form, fill in your ZIP Code; Pets N Stuff is less than 3 miles from your house.)

Give Maxi and Merlin a pat on the head for me. :-D And pat yourself somewhere too -- you're too far away for me to reach.
my 2 VS a 40 lb bag, gone in no time!
and yea the bags keep getting smaller
its not just dog food, if you check out a lot of things at the supermarket, cans are getting smaller, bags, boxes, if the old one was 16 OZ, chances are the new one is 14.6 oz, everything comes in odd sizes now just a little bit smaller than it used to
My 1 year old Weimeraner goes through a standard size bag, I forget how much it is, in about 5 days. She isn't fat, but she is pretty active. I was just complaining about it last night when I ran out of food AGAIN.
I've been feeding our new puppy Nutros natural dry food and he can go through *about * a pound a day. I've found some manufacturers coupons on e-Bay getting me 2 for 1 on the 17 lb. bags. Coupons cost me $11 and I saved almost $55. Not bad....
But yeah... he can inhale it pretty good.
I wonder how big he's going to get? He's only about a year old....
You might be over-feeding. A dog will eat til the food is gone. I feed my three yorkies in one room and the real dog in another. If the real dog or the mama yorkie starts getting fat I know I am feeding too much. If anybody goes after the cats food I yell at them and know I am feeding too little.
Great looking mix and congratz on the rescue/adoption! How heavy is he now?
I think they keep changing the bag size. Who came up with 31.1 Lbs? makes it hard to price and compare too.
Wow, 5 Beagles? You hunt with them? I have visions of an old school english fox hunt.
Not bad at all! Something to be said for smaller dogs. Dachsunds are really cool dogs too.
We have a feed store but it's kind of off the beaten path. Might be worth it for 50 lb bags tough.
Is he a rescue? Sometimes rescues have picked up weird eating habits. I have to stand next to Merlin at his bowl before he'll eat and I can't move too fat either. great pic Dave! He's one big dog!
Thanks Leanna! I'll check that out, will do and done, lol!
Buddy is making the scale groan @ 85 lbs. I've been told he has a few months to go yet.... He still has knobby-knee joints as he hasn't grown into them yet. :-s
But yeah, after loosing our last one in May we dearly missed having a Dog. Now we have a Dog & a half.... 8)
All I can say is "Cosco is your friend (or other major bulk supplier in your area, here we have Cosco, Winco, Walbart)"
You can actually feed less of the higher-priced "premium" foods. Our 92-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback gets 1 cup of Dick VanPatten's Natural Balance twice-a-day and it maintains his weight just fine. He also gets the occasional table scrap after dinner and a small home-made dog treat after each meal.
Yup I hunt deer with them The group of hunters I hunt with killed 30 deer in front of them this year..
Id definately do that switch. My sister has a half-mastiff, half-american bull dog mix named Holmes and she switched him off Purina and onto Kirkland and he hasn't been eating quite as much, he also lost this itch that he had going because of the Purina apparently being not so healthy for dogs.:angry7: Most dogs normally fill in fully at the end of the 2 year mark and are fully done growing. On the note of the gravy thing DRENO, its kinda a spoiled thing. Holmes did it when we put beef/chicken broth over his food, the next day, he would look at you like "wtf is this garbage? Im not eating this". Its really just them being spoiled and wanting to get that yummy human stuff on/in their food. Might wanna break him of that soon or it turns into an every night thing. I only do it for Holmes now maybe once a month if that even and he doesnt do that "I wont eat this" next day thing cuz he knows thats all he is gonna get:toothy10:Damn, my dog food, Purina Beneful, is rated only a 17 and got an F. The Kirkland sounds like a best buy to me.
