over centering spring

Hey Boys, Just finishing off my auto to 4 speed conversion I have read in some posts that you are supposed to remove the over center spring in the pedal assembley is this correct?

True, if you are using a diaphram style clutch. You don't have to remove it but it's not really needed with the diaphram style, much easier pedal without.

Not to sound like a moron but can you define diaphram style clutch I am not sure about the difference?

No problem, were all here to learn. There are 2 types of pressure plates , the Borg Beck type, which has 3 fingers in the center, and the Diaphram type which has a whole bunch of fingers in the center. If you go to Mancini racing and look at clutches they will specify the 2 different styles. Here are pic's of the 2 styles
