I’ve seen several posts about guys wondering how to duplicate the factory Organisol look. I have a 71 V24 Duster and being that I have never seen a factory original in person I wanted to share how Eastwood’s Rat Rod single stage black looks. Personally I laid it flat and I know the original hoods had some texture to them. The paint is very inexpensive compared to most and I am pretty happy with the look and feel.

Looks great Jim!! When the wedge decal is laid on it will be a masterpiece like the Cars album!!

It’s here I just have to wait the 30 days to allow the paint to gas off before laying it down. Some do not know but the factory cars had the word “wedge” also in white instead of red.

Did you think about buying some Organisol?

Not even for a minute. I didnt see a reason I am familiar with this product.

You could dry spray this Eastwood paint with a fast catalyst and achieve an orange peel look and still get modern day paint technology and durability. I didn’t want to have too much texture.

Looks great! I've made a note to try this product on my Cuda AAR hood when I get there.

link to paint? may end up being the color of kids hand me down B2000.

I have not touched up the black around the windows or tops of the fenders and doors. This is a factory V24 car (blacked out hood with 340 callout decal). Plymouth made 1200 in 1971 and this is the only one that was factory FJ6 (sassy grass) with the white side stripe and black vinyl top. Also it had houndstooth bench seat with a foldable arm rest and the floor mounted dictaphone (only offered on an a body in 71). This Duster is one of a kind and I love it.

Like I said. I’m happy with the results I got from this product from Eastwood. A gallon is just over $100 and it goes a long ways. I do recommend buying their urethane reducer and thinning the paint 10% or a touch more depending on temperature and humidity. I also recommend spraying perpendicular between coats otherwise it can get streaky on you.

Hello. I know this is an older thread, but did you use Eastwood's matte black paint or satin black? It is hard to tell. I'm going to paint mine soon, thanks.
