Painting aluminum?

-
I have experimented with a lot of different paints. I have about 12 different brands and applications from exhaust to grill paint to cheap silver. I have found that a coat of flat VHT silver manifold paint, toped by a mist of chrome has a cool effect. Also, the satin nickel color looks good.
Hopefully others will chime in with better advice.

A good quality etching primer (Rustoluem QT LTX ALU Primer or Amchem 33-1 ALUMIPREP 33 AMCHEM/HENKEL METAL PREP ETCH) followed by a color coat of your choice.

agreed on the primer! I was thinking more in terms of keeping an "aluminum" finish. I am currently dressing out all of the doodads under my hood, and the aluminum stuff is just getting a fresher look. Lot's of experimenting!

I painted an aluminum trailer years ago and I first sprayed the trailer with vinyl chloride. It's yellow in color out of the spray can but the final color really stuck well. This was suggested by the welding shop who did the work for me.Good luck
