1968 Dodge Dart

I'm assembling my rear brakes, and this part was in my parts bag. I don't think it is a brake part, and I assume that it got mixed in during the cleaning process (I've disassembled most of the car for restoration). Does anyone know what this is? (The white substance is residue from treatment with rust converter.)

Looks like a attachment point for a carburetor spring? Not a brake part.

OK, that's two for two! I'll put it in the carb hardware bag.

This is a good time for me to admit that I didn't take any photos of my car prior to disassembly. I've done many auto restorations in my time, including frame-off jobs of some relatively exotic cars. I had always taken lots of pictures during disassembly. When I took the Dart to pieces, I thought it was so simple that there was no need for pictures. I've owned a number of Mopars over the years (including my first car - a worn-out $75 '61 Dart) , so that gave me confidence. Big mistake, particularly because I'm 71 years old, and my memory is definitely not what is was.

Anyway, many thanks to you and the many folks who have responded to my myriad of threads on this forum. I never fail to be impressed at the promptness and generosity of the forum members.

Looks more like some trans linkage to me. No engine paint and it has that plating on it because it was never to get painted. Also that ear so it doesn’t spin when tightened down.

Can you go outside and take a better photo of it?

OK, here it is again. To make this easier, my Dart is a 225 CID with Torqueflite. Manual steering and brakes. The AT linkage is disconnected, so your suggestion is a possibility.

thats part of the torqueflite shift linkage

EDIT: ...hang on, maybe not...i'm inclined to think throttle return spring bracket too now...
