Went to a show tonight. Before I even get out a see a shaker hood car. So I immediately walk up and start looking. A lady and two guys were sitting in front of it. I take a pic of the fender tag. Lady immediately asks me what I'm doing and says why do you think it's fake? I say I have no reason to believe that I just like looking at sequence numbers, scheduled build date etc. she then informs me the car was built in October or November. . Here's a pic of the tag. The car was beautiful!

I'd say if you don't want people looking at anything they can get to short of prying locked doors/ trunk hood open, you likely "might expect" that at a car show

They have a great mopar, that mopar guys are gonna want to look at it. That is one of the first things i look at. I guess the dont understand people who might want to document stuff. Yeah, a little over-sensitive Imo.

Napa Battery. FAIL. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

(that's ok. I have a Wal Mart battery in mine. I dressed it up with a cap and sticker kit though)

Like the guy that jumped me about my Swinger being original. "My car is original" he said. Well for one thing dude, it's not your car. It's your dad's. Second, they didn't offer a 273 in 71. BUSTED!!

I think that is pushing it by taking pix of tag with owners there. Good manners is to ask if you could take pix of vin first.

I can relate - just went to a car show / swap meet here in Wisconsin (Jefferson). Looking at the cars, and came upon an AMC Rebel (The Machine). Complimented the guy on what a nice car it was, then asked if it was real. He went off - he went on about how of course it was, and he cannot stand people that build clones, etc. I just started to walk away during his rant, then he kind of caught up to me, and calmly apologized, I listened as he showed me more of the car. Probably talked to him another ten minutes or so.

Looks like a lot of cars I see displayed at 'car shows' ....buffed to the max on the outside....covered in dust, dirt and rust inside.

If I had a car like that, I wouldn't want anybody snapping pictures of the fender tag or VIN.....or license plate.

The first car show I took my Duster to, there was a guy giving me sh*t for having a Chevy alternator in my car. I thought it was hilarious because out of all the things “unoriginal” on my car, which is basically everything at this point, that’s what he didn’t like.
Also, his “original” car was brought in on a trailer and had to be pushed to its spot because it didn’t run.

They're not clones, they're tributes. :)

I had a 67 Barracuda FB that had original air in the tires! :poke:
I bought a 4 door 68 Coronet for parts ( traded the running 318 for a paint job I never got) 300 in change! Had original bias Ply tires... not sure about the air though...I am sure,.after I put 4:56 gears in my 68 383 4spd 'Net, and terrorized the neighborhood for a week, those tires were completely ruined, and I went back to 3:55s and 2.5" pipes w/ Flowmaster 40s. They were 35 bucks then... hey, it was a fun youthful experience, I guess... those poor tires tho

I saw a guy taking pictures of the vin on my car at a car show once I didn't say anything but it did make me feel weird.

I have a bud here in Tampa, some of Yall may know him. Has a bag a vins and stack of titles... you know, just for " rebodies" do I agree ? No. But I've seen him sell a fender tag for 400 bucks...

I saw that NAPA Legend battery too, but I have them in two cars & I swear by them now. They are a good battery. Very nice 71 Challenger though. I had one very much the same, Top Banana Yellow, black vinyl top, but a plain jane one, not an R/T. Wish I never sold it, it was a super nice car too.

Like going to a nudist beach, laying out and having someone come up and taking pictures of....weird? :eek:

N96 Hell Yea IT'S REAL. I appreciate "REAL" cars but at this point of the game I'd rather have a clone I can beat the snot out of , modify as I see fit and NOT hurt the value. "REAL" cars are nice BUT they suck to drive most of the time. Example 4 wheel drum brakes , manual steering , bias ply tires , standard shocks
