My 91/96 Pro Junkyard dakota sport, with KB107 pistons and comp 550 lift solid cam, has a stock 2000 360 magnum short block. Stock bore, crank and rods. Trickflow heads. Truck raced with 93 pump gas. So far my best times are
60 FT 1.57
1/8 7.15
1/8 mph 96.8
1/4 11.24
1/4 mph 116.89

I think the converter is slipping to much on the top end. It is a coan 8 inch 5500 stall. It came with the 904 transmission i bought and at the time I didn't have the money to buy the transmission and buy a converter built to my truck. I am going to pull it this winter and get it sent off to be worked over. I tried to go a few weeks ago because it was going to be in the low 50 at night, to try and get a new best. But didn't get to go. So I was going to go this friday but its soposed to be in the upper 70. So I might wait until the Halloween race. Hope its cooler that day. Lol

Greg had mentioned that you‘d possibly be pitting near us…. Hopefully we’ll meet soon! I’d love to race that Duster!!
I saw your badass Duster at Vegas. Waited around to talk to you but I ran out of time.

How about we add a category for the worst best time? I shaved mine from 19.8 to 19.1 with a tune-up and valve adjustment. 66 Valiant that still has the original untouched slant, three-on-the-tree.
I'm pretty confident i have a perfect .000 light slip laying around, which was the first pass ever in my dart, where it was a 19.00 at like 65 MPH lol. (stock slant six and 2.XX gears)

she goes 10.20s now.

Well, the prep at MIR was very good and the air cool and dry. Car number 3400

One of the fastest tracks in the nation.
Besides my 68 Dart race car I also show/cruise/ race my original owner 92 D150 I recently took 125 lbs. out of it and it made a difference the last two times out it ran a few 15.03s and 15.01s , I am still looking for the first 14 second time slip .. specs : 318 Magnum / 518 trans / 4.10 sure-grip rear ( changed from 3.55s ) shift kit in the trans, redone lockup converter ( picked up over a tenth in 60 ft ) goes 2.00s in 60 ft , shorty headers, 3 inch single exhaust , throttle body spacer, M/P hi performance computer, 180 degree thermostat , Ram air system, traction bars , springs clamped in the front , B-Body Rancho shocks , drag radials .. best 15.01 at 88 mph, 2.03 60 ft

What was your setup again? You’re cranking out very similar 60’, 330’ and 1/8 times as I have, and then your 1/4 times look spot on; (what would be ideal, based on formulas/calcs that I’ve seen) for all your numbers. Looks dialed in for sure:thumbsup:

My 1/4 times show what a barn door being pushed down the track gets you! :steering:

Your best slip vs mine:

You got a barn door and I have a 6” wide tire.. we both are crazy! Actually, it will be pretty hard to translate my combination into any other combo, for example, put a 10” tire on the car and you want 4000+ stall with everything else that is in car. 112 degs lobe separation? Free power if you tighten that up, well not with an exhaust manifold. Etc etc, but this is it.

I think mine is a 78 360 block bored to .040. With Icon forged flat top pistons .010 in the hole. 12.2 to 1. Scat h beam rods and Scat 4” cast crank. The heads are x heads ported by Dwayne Porter of Porter Racing Heads. 2.055 intake and 1.625 exhaust. Flow about 274cfm intake. The cam is an Engle solid flat tappet intake .557 lift 245 degs at .050 lift. Exh is .551 lift with 261 degs at .050 lift. 112 degs lobe seperation. Intake is stock 68-69 340 manifold with the divider cut down and smoothed out a bit. Stock hipo 340 exh manifolds. Eddy 800 cfm AVS thunder series. Two fuel pumps. A big Carter mechanical and a Holley red pump back at the tank with Holley hydra mat inside. Mallory billet distributor and MSD 6al. A 904 with a Cope RMVB with a PTC 9.5 “ converter. Flashes at 3500 rpm, 4:10 rear gear in an 8 3/4”. TTI 2.5” exhaust. /6 front torsion bars with QA1 R’s on the front and 1” over arched leafs on the rear QA-1 doubles rear shocks. Car is original 68 Barracuda 340-s Fastback, weighs 3353 lbs with me in it. Tires are repo f70-14 polyglas redlines. Best run is 1.60 60’ 11.393, best mph is 117.22 shifting at 6500 rpm. A very smart guy once told me that the motors in FAST racing are pretty under performing for what’s in them, due to the box the rules put you in. Seems pretty accurate. Like you set an et goal and build it to reach that goal. FAST. You set the same et goal and build it MORE and let the crappy parts take what they will and you end up in the same spot. Crazy!

Always interesting to see what combos are running where the times are similar. I can dig it

Fold the mirrors in, might get a 14.XX

you know .. that might just work!
I run west coast mirrors on my van sometimes I fold them in for banzai runs. I know definitely on back to back (with cool off between) runs, same air conditions, I went from an 11.80 to an 11.75 and picked up over 1.5 mph. The MPH gain might actually be more but can’t remember exactly.....but I have receipts showing gains from all the times I’ve folded them in. It helps absolutely

I guess I will throw my hat in the ring. Duster picked up some with the new changes. Going to freshen the motor this winter and see how it's doing, been in almost 10yrs.

On Friday Test and Tune @ Edgewater, I was able to do 2 back to back runs of 11.58 @ 114 mph in the 1/4 mile. These were my best runs so far on the car. Probably the last time i will have it at the track this season. My buddy got this video of one of the runs:

My Current best is a [email protected] with a 1.42 60ft @3550lbs in my 418" 91 octane Barracuda. Recently took a step backwards with a cam change, I am not sure I can get it back there but I have some things to try before I give up on it. I only have a few passes on the new cam and that was at Drag Week so tuning time is limited and conditions were always changing.

Winter plans are to knock some weight off the ole girl, I could stand to lose some myself but not near as much as the car lol.

The 408 avatar went to the track last night for one last time for the year. Hit a new best ET in the 54 degree air in time trials - good way to let it sleep until next year. (Trying different launch rpm's for better reaction times didn't work out so well lol!)

Here's a pair of back-to-back runs in the RH then LH lane. Both 11.14's.

Thought it would be good to have a thread where we can all post our personal bests. I've seen individual threads where people post them but not a centralized one. 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, whatever...lets see yiur own bests. There should be new bests out there as we work on the cars and impove them so post 'em up and repost as you hit your new bests!

I hit mine last night at a "Footbrake Friday" event in my 408 avatar street/strip 72 Demon. DA was 1111 at 59deg. Track seemed sketchy as my 60' times were slow and my 1/8 time was off by .05 from last week. But still made my 1/4 mile best.
