Hey all. I have a technical question here. I have a Pertronix Electronic Ignitor "I" kit in my distributor. This system eliminates the points and uses I believe a magnetic pickup. And I was wonder if I can use this setup in conjunction with Chrysler's orange or chrome electronic ignition control units? Did anyone ever try this yet? And if so, did anything smell burnt afterwards? If not, how do I wire it up to my orange ignition control unit? Thanks, Joe P. (aka, the Taint):-D

The pertronix is a complete self contained ignition, it contains the control box and pick up in one module. It does exactly the same thing as the magnetic pick and seperate control box in the mopar system.

Since it is self contained there is no way to get the signal to trigger a mopar ecu, plus there would not be any advantage if you could.

You could use the wire from the Pertronix that normally attaches to the negative terminal on the coil to trigger an MSD box if you feel the need for a hotter ignition system.

Thanks for the info and the quick response Dave. That is why I love this forum. So much information here to help with any project you plan to take on. Thanks again, Joe P. (aka, the Taint:-D)
