i have a B body rear that i am thinking of swapping in for some track width and selling my A body 8 3/4. how many of you guys have them and how about some pics?

i do Wracks. with the right backspace i'm certain i can fit 9" wide wheels.
last pic is Tim Herren's track burner 68 valiant at speed. pretty sure he's got a b-body rear in his and he's running 18x9 cobra R wheels.
props to Herren for the pic, it's one of my favorites!

I know not the best pics but they are stock ralleys with 235 60 14s and rolled 1/4 lips on a B body 8 3/4.

cool. i have one that i am going to put in soon, been on the back burner. i will be sitting pretty low,so i wanted to make sure i had clearance. of course i am running 9" bullits on the rear now,so i can do away with the spacers with the B body rear. thanks guys!

spring perches need to be moved? or is this a nice bolt in?
thanks

spring perches need to be moved a 1/2 on each side to make up the 1 in difference.... a body 43 inches apart b body 44 in apart ill post pics later this week when i install my 68 b body rear in my duster and let you know how it fits

yea i still have to do all that,no biggie, done it a hundred times on jeeps. i was mainly interested in seeing how much room there was for the tires. i done the math, but nothing like seeing it for real. we are going on vacation in a couple weeks,so after that it is on! i will have my complete A body 8 3/4 rear for sale then.

Sorry my post was for kursplat he asked if the perches need to be moved on lol... I hear you on actually seeing pics as soon as I put mine in ill post pics and tell u the specs

1/2 inch is not a lot of difference. I have had some luck having a friend pull the leaf spring outward while I do the same. It is sometimes possible to get the centering pins to drop on by doing this. Once the u-bolts are tight, they aren't going anywhere!
The B body rear is 3 1/2 inches wider than an A body rear. That's about 1 3/4 inches extra width on each side. With a large wheel opening (like on a Duster or Demon) and using negative offset wheels (spaced more to the back) It is possible to bolt in and run the 66-70 B body rear just as it sits.

i had one in my duster with the 8" bullit rims to get rid of the 1" spacers on the 8 1/4. i sold both rears to members on here and went with the explorer 8.8. the b body 8 3/4was a good fit but i only have the 17x8 with 245 45 17s. i dont think i have any pics.

A few people do this, and it makes me wonder why Ma Mopar never thought of it.

Mid 60's B-Body rear (narrower than later B-Body). Wheels are 15x8 with 5.25" backspace. Tires are Nitto Drag Radials, 275/50-15. Also using offset Mopar hanger. Lots of room on both sides of tire and wider track looks good.

yep thats what I did too, seems to work just fine for the last 10,000mi or so.

One correction on the width, depending on B-Body rear the difference in total width can be as little as 1 5/8" (approx 13/16" per side).

8 3/4 flange to flange:

A-Body
'66-'72 = 52 5/8"

B BODY
'62-'63= 53 1/4" (And '64 Max Wedge)
'64 = 55 5/8" (Exc. Max Wedge)
'65-'67= 54 1/4"
'68-'70= 54 15/16"

B body rear 255/60/15 on a 15-8 with about 4 in offset Ya I know there for looks (traction bars)

inboard springs, "b" dana, 15"x9" with 7"bs and 29"x10.5"W's. i now have 31"x10.5"W's in the wheelhouse.

Did you have it mini tubbed in that picture? Did you have to shorten the axle/housing or just make up for it with wheel spacing? Ever run street tires on it, or just slicks? Also how far inboard did you move the springs? That stance is just sick!
