Hi
I think that the 383 hangs slightly lower and has more of a curve to it. It allows the center link to clear the oil pan Also, the curve give more clearance from the oil pan when turning as the arm moves through its sweeping area.
I have compared to two as I have both. I can see the difference between the two but it's just my guess as to why they are different.
