When I lived in Reno the Sierra Job Corp complex that I worked at was near where the Air Races were held in Stead, Nv. Witnessed many crashes there watching from the rooftop.
That was one short landing. Be surprised if they're not dead..
Man what a disaster with the pits full of racers. Be amazing if nobody is hurt. There is an airport next door and the planes fly low perpendicular over the track to land.
They don't start till 11 on Sunday and now they lost an hour and 45 minutes of racing. It will be dark before they are done.

Three people were injured after a small plane crashed in front of horrified fans at a major NHRA drag racing event in Pomona, California on Sunday. The crash occurred when the plane attempted to land at an airfield near the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, ABC 7 reported.
Landing from that direction. Someone likely made an error with controls.
That’s Brackett airport. I’ve flown over the Pomona strip many times landing there. Any kind of engine problem on final or takeoff could put you into the strip. One memorable takeoff in the company Baron (at well over max gross and six passengers) made me really nervous. It was a high density altitude day and we climbed out very slowly and low over the strip. Taking off to the west can also be exciting because of the hill and the reservoir. Several planes have gone in there too. It’s a shame, because a lot of the small airports on the coast get closed because complaints from area residents and businesses. Most of those airports closed because of infringing development, even though they had been there first, often for many years.
Airplanes are supposed to be there, they can't land any other way because the airfield is right across the street from the racetrack and the approach is over the Pomona fairgrounds and drag strip. Probably ran out of fuel or the engine quit.
At times watching the winternationals or finals on TV you can see low flying airplanes.
