I say all 318/360 Magnum heads are the same from 92 up. A friend says that the heads off his 2001:360 mag truck are specific for 2001
What do you say ?

'02 was the final year.Wasn't 01 the last year for the 5.9?
Kinda silly to make a one year only casting.
...but I've seen similar things.
I've wondered about 5.2/5.9 difference but authoritative info is not real easy.
No, 03 was. They had em in Durango's and vans'02 was the final year.
Gotcha! There was a Mopar porting template kit that I think said it would work on one casting number only and should not be used on another casting number. Also, there were castings used for compressed natural gas fuel vehicles that had hardened exhaust seats pressed in. So there are likely two or three different versions of Magnum heads out there used from the factory from Chrysler.
My Van was a 2002 3500 5.9 ran well and got best of 10mpg in city. Gave it away and drove it on a trailer when trans gave out. Barley made it up the ramps with guys pushing it.'02 was the final year.
Not sure if it's correct, just read 3 different headsThere were 2 different castings, not sure when or what either was specified for. I thought early and late.
And commercial chassis I believe. I think my 5.9 came out of a 2003 3500 chassis cab.No, 03 was. They had em in Durango's and vans
I've bought 2 sets and my son has a 3rd set of eqs.Gotcha!
From all the ones I’ve tore down they all had the same heads with same casting numbers. The years I tore down were 97/98 and ‘02.
I wound up selling all of them for scrap since I found a set of NZ EQ’s!
Thief... You stole RRRs avatar pic...And commercial chassis I believe. I think my 5.9 came out of a 2003 3500 chassis cab.
I bought mine bare and had them checked before going through them like you did. I got lucky and got mine for $500 for the pair before they started going nuts on the prices.I've bought 2 sets and my son has a 3rd set of eqs.
The 1st was (and still are) fantastic, those went on a LA 318 block/ the 2nd set went on an LA 360, the jury is still out on how good those are/were as they came out of the box, the 3rd set was definitely junk as taken out of the box. Within 6 miles they stuck and bent #4 exhaust valve and the machine shop said they had to drive out all the intakes and we're harder to do than an engine which had sat outside for 30 years would be. Paid $700 for them fully assembled then had to pay a machine shop another $250 to make right.
The set my son has went on a fresh engine that wound up having an appetite for oil from the get go, he ran 6000 miles and re rebuilt it into a 408 including having had that set of EQs gone thru at the time of the short block redo.
The only set I can say we're fantastic was the 1st set which I bought "bare" and assembled myself using valves and associated stuff that I pirated from cracked stock magnum heads.
There are different casting numbers, but all of them interchange and have the same chambers and valves.I say all 318/360 Magnum heads are the same from 92 up. A friend says that the heads off his 2001:360 mag truck are specific for 2001

I’ve had this avatar since July 18 2011… no offense meant to Rusty.Thief... You stole RRRs avatar pic...
Lucky me I put a disclaimer in there, lol714 wasn't a magnum head/ it was the last of the LA series engine heads in 91. 714s are the same thing as 302 heads.
Yeah I know what you mean though about gas mileage. My 01 Durango w/a 360, is no picnic there, gets an overall average of about 12.5, in combination driving. Sometimes can coax 13 out of it as an average. Lower in cold weather and if most of the miles are from my wife driving to work and back, lots of 30mph and too damn many stop lights
but it just passed 300k miles a few days ago.
Still cheaper to drive than buying something else for improvement in mileage and adding a payment and (because of the payment) mandatory full coverage.
