Who would go to the effort to swap it over? The truck is already bloody simple to begin with, why swap in all the running gear, as well as the engine?

Looks like he wanted a Chevy but didn't want anyone to know that he wanted a Chevy. So he put Chevy parts in a nice Dodge truck and screwed it up.
 
I once put a 383 Plymouth engine & 727 trans in a 72 chevy pu, got tired of the chevy parts hooked to a great Mopar engine!So I swapped the engine to a 67 Coronet post body! I traded the chevy for a A833 4 speed & a 8 3/4 3.23 sure grip it was a good deal more parts for the Coronet and no chevy!
