I have a quick question for the electronics gurus on here .I have a 2001 Dakota with NO heat,I have a 2000/4000 watt inverter that I want to install. My question is can I use 10/2 or 12/2 copper house wire to run from battery into cab to inverter,or do I really need 1/0 or 0/0 welding cable? Thanks in advance.....................................Jeff

by the way it will only be used when engine is running

There is a reason those inverter supply cables are the size they are.
That's all I'm saying on the subject. :D

Why the no heat post? Going to run a heater with it?

Make sure you use the appropriate sized wire, and don't use house wire. Even the stranded house wire in not fine enough stranded for the flex it will see in a vehicle. The copper work hardens every time it is flexed (vibration) and it will break over not too long a time. Fine stranded automotive wire won't do that.
