Has anyone replaced the input shaft seal? Any hints on how to make it quick and easy? This is the seal right where the steering column attaches to the power steering box, 69 Dart Swinger 340.

Thanks

Only 75k. It has been sitting for 23 years though, and the seal must be dried out. NAPA has the seal, it only cost $6. Just wondering if anyone has replaced one. I assume that the box has to be removed from the car, but is the seal installed from the outside, or the inside. I cannot tell when looking at the steering box in the car.

It just taps in from the outside

make sure there is no groove in the shaft where the seal runs or you're just wasting your time

put some tape over the splines too to keep from cutting the seal
