Not trying to make fun, or chastise, but in cases like this, it might be helpful to draw out a simplified diagram, and think to yourself, "if this, then what" And think about what can / could happen
There are a few connections in the path from the batter to to the ignition switch, through the switch, and back to the coil/ module, both in "run" and in "start."
Bad/ rusty/ loose ground at the module. Loose module connector, or corroded/ loose terminals in the connector. I've even seen a wire loose / corroded in one terminal of the module connector= unpredictable intermittent.
