problem with all lights

When I hit my switch to turn on my headlights and interior lights. . .they will come on. For a second then,, they suddenly shut off this is only the headlights tailights lnterior lights. The parking lights stay on and as for my gauges they all flicker back and forth constatnly volt meter,tach also radio shuts off and on.. . So I cant even drive at night cause my lights won't stay on. Wats causing this has this ever happend to anyone. . .

Start by replacing the headlight switch.

i have no head lights, but tail lights work and no brake lights. also side markers are out on one side. temp gauges max's out but not in use-after market temp gauges installed. fuel gauge moves up and downd with temp gauge. and im on my third light switch. now the top fuse on block is dead and the three orange wires connected to that line on back are dead? fuse good. i think orane wires are pre fuse. possibly a issue at bulkhead connection...help 71 swinger/318/edelbrock performer/600 holley/dual glass pacs
