I have a vacuum leak somewhere. I've sprayed around the usual suspected areas and haven't found the leak. I've had great luck in the past using a cigar to find vacuum leaks.

Problem is the new manifold doesn't seem to have a vacuum port. All of the plugs (in the manifold) I've pulled all lead to the water jackets. Seems like the only ports I have are in the carb. I haven't tried blowing smoke through a carb port yet but I'm about to try.

Anyway, wondering if anyone has this intake manifold and whether or not they have a vacuum port? Maybe I'm just missing it?

I had one,no remember of vacuum ports. I liked the part for it's quality, mine was new out of the box. Supposedly, there are problems with port alignment.

My ports were on , but a little smallish, Edelbrock had terrible port alignment but they were a tad larger too, some of the walls looked like noodles, bent noodles. Edelbrock also has a larger plenum volume. Every one I seen has a huge screw in vacuum boss on #8, yours dont?

cross wind intake.....vacuum port going to #8 cylinder

Ha, yeah. It's view was blocked by the alternator wires. I started blowing smoke into the pcv port in the front of my edelbrock and found the vacuum port pretty quickly. Still have a vacuum leak or some other issue but I ran out of light. It's been 100+ degrees during the day and not much cooler at night so I'm limited on when I work on it.

I'll try to find some time to put a vacuum guage it tomorrow. Sounds like it's missing all over the place. I think it's vacuum right now because I can screw the air mixture screws all the way without any change in the idle. I have the idle and fast idle screws backed all the way out and the choke it pulled.

Thanks again
Joel

Ha, ha, ha....

You California guys are always busting our balls about our cold weather here in the winter... :farao:

We are having a little "cool spell" right now. Highs in the low to mid 70's and lows in the mid 50's at night.... Perfect.... :D

Who's the beyotch now??? LOL!!!! #-o

I don't feel a thing.... LOL!!!

Have you tried spraying WD-40 around the intake to look for leaks?

I've only been in California for a couple years but I'm guilty of some winter ball busting when I lived in Miami.
People complained about the humidity but the temps rarely got over 90 or below 50. Humidity could be brutal occasionally but mostly, I think, people like to complain.

I tried the wd40 before I found the hole in 8 that was suppose to have a vacuum tree. I put a tree in but lost light so I'll put a guage on it tomorrow an spray the wd40 again. I'll check timing as well.

Vacuum read a little on the low side. Around 19psi which isn't terribly low but lower than I'd like. Just a little bounce in the needle, less then half a pound in either direction.
I tried hooking up my timing light noticed my crank pully is to dirty to see a timing mark. I'll clean it up and try again.
My choke was stuck closed and it's running a bit better now. Less black smoke although not entirely, think I noticed some blue smoke under the black smoke so I'll have to look into that. Tomorrow I'll check compression.

CA over 100? thats like everywhere but Napa, Frisco or 30 miles from the beach. Sis went to school in Sac town, F'n Hot in the summer, foggy for the whole week in winter I visited, never got past 50! Thats why I live in So. Cal....;-) I bet your leak is the carb, check the screw in port on the back of the carb, buddy installed his out of the box and that plug was still rolling around in the box.
