Aight guys, So after a long battle with the Dart, I came upon a sweet deal through a friend. The Dart has cancer EVERYWHERE. I washed the car for probably the first time and had water pouring down my dashboard.

So my friend had this 73 duster and had givin it to one of our friends dad and he was gonna build a gasser out of it. but he backed out of the project to build a 42 plymouth gasser with a stroked 383. so instead of the car going to the scrap yard because it had to be moved, it was givin to me.

The goal is to strip my dart and put everything into the duster k member and all, i have to give the front axle setup back to my friends dad, but he said if i order the parts we can put it back to a strait axle.

I will post the pictures during the swap. While the motor and trans are out, i am going to pull the heads back off deck the block change the pushrods and lifters and paint it clean it all up and look pretty.

!! I'm excited!

Little update, if anyone cares.

Got the motor trans and k member out as one unit, my torsion bars were a B*tch to get out, my lower control arm bushings are shot too







Pictures are a little blurry, I love having a lift!
 
Looking good. I had to do the same thing with quite a few parts from my duster to my dart. Keep us updated.
 
If the front sheet metal is decent on the dart you could transfer it to the Duster for a more attractive nose. I just can't get past the beak on the later cars.

I'll second that. Turn it in to a Demon. Thats what I am doing with my 74 Duster. She looks like a nice starting point for you. Good luck on the build.
 
here is how the dart sits now, tomarrow it's going to the scrap yard to be crushed and sent to china,




Gonna work on the motor and trans tomarrow, then start preping the duster!

Too bad you cant keep the straight axle business. Looks cool/different. If your not going to use the front clip I may be interested in it, or even the 73 front end as well if its in good shape. Im in Socal and I am up in Walnut Creek fairly often so shoot me a pm if your interested.
 
What do you guys know of http://www.ezwiring.com/shop.html , I need a dash harness for this duster, my dart harness wont work from what i know and it was shot to begin with, was thinking of ordering one of these harnesses, i don't have $500 for a painless. Thanks in advance!
 
Updated pics

Pulled the motor apart to freshen up the gaskets and some paint,




Did some cleaning of the oil pan, I need a new one =( but this one will work!!

I got the heads back on, used copper spray this time! let's pray it holds.

my old dipstick tube is broken off inside the block, but i can't seem to get a punch or anything to knock it down so i can just pop it out, any ideas?

I should have the rest of the motor together tomarrow, and painted.
 
quick update:

got the motor apart and painted, I have the duster on the lift, and i have been cleaning the engine bay, wire wheel and sanding, going to finish tomarrow, and spray a few layers of primer and some paint, probably black for now.

Will post pictures tomarrow.

I'm looking for a dash wire harness, I'm thinking about getting a kit from ezwireing.com anyone hear anything about thee kits?





Specs on the motor

1970 318 .60 over. stock
has a large cam not sure of specs
360 magnum heads from a 99 dodge ram
mopar intake demon 650 carb
full msd
should be a peppy motor never ran right in my dart though

I'm welding the floor with a hump i cut from the dart because their was a 4spd in this car, then im gonna clean the interior and paint it, i will take some pics tomarrow of the progress with the interior

!!
