PTC converters

-
I put a 9.5 PTC in my 505" street car and love it. Cruises just fine and man it hits like a linebacker under power. It's obviously not tight like a stock stock unit but for having the higher flash it's nothing like the old loose HP converters.
Best part---PTC usually ends up a bit less expensive than some of the other comparable customs.
Lupo at Dynamic was about $150 more for basically the same setup so PTC got my money this time..

Snagged the old but working Stromberg-Carlson avocado green rotary dial from the in-laws family lake cabin, now in a workshop shed but alas we have no land line anymore:( but if we can figure a way to incorporate a smart phone into it it would be a cool..........conversation piece!

Been dealing with PTC forever. Been happy.
That said, the customer service and returning calls( had a buddy send them a spec sheet and they never responded several weeks ago) isn't what it used to be.

Kenny Ford owner PTC has always been great to deal with building my transmissions and converters plus he is a big Mopar man

Don't kid yourself. Those phones still work, you just have to call the phone co and tell them to enable 'pulse dialing' on your account. All switches have that ability. I had to 'put down' a rotary Mickey Mouse phone just today. Hook switch was non-op, could not short the line going off hook, so she could not place calls with it. She thought her line was dead but could receive calls...just not on that phone. Her kitchen phone was barely into the push button era itself. Her Mickey looked just like this one

Apparently all he needed was an adapter to achieve bliss:p

Interesting...never seen something like that. I just call voice provisioning and tell them to enable pulse dial and they work. Usually its on a new install but its pretty standard practice to enable both pulse and tone dial on the account when they build it. It may vary in other locations. As for your land line not connecting and your cell phone getting that number to go through has to do with your long distance carrier on your land line. They use different trunks to get out and your land line LD trunk may be out or PIC not programmed (long distance carrier ID). Sorry to admit but land lines are really antiquated when it comes to convenience. Everyone has a cell nowadays, and they are always on your person. If you live in the sticks, land line all the way but that's about the only advantage on a consumer level. Just give me 14 more years......

Yeah, hard to say as that is what he had told me. At the time, I really didn't think anyone was still using rotary phones. Nothing worse than getting to the last digit on a long distant call and having your finger slip out!

I bought a 9.5" from PTC early 2020. I did the online spec sheet, then talked with the sales guy Tommy. They were helpful but not overly friendly.

In the spec sheet I very clearly listed it was for a 5.9 Magnum mated to a 1966 A904 transmission. So, I finish the swap, start the car, put it in reverse... and nothing. After troubleshooting everything I could think of I pulled the transmission. Found they built it for the large input shaft so my small shaft early transmission wasn't engaging. When I called to tell Kenny, his only reply was " you should run a large input shaft anyway". Was not the reply I was hoping for.

On a positive note I picked up and rebuilt a 74 unit that has part throttle kickdown.

The torque converter works great around town and flashes to 3500. I'm very happy with it.

I run a 9.5” PTC stalls about 3500. Very happy with it. Now just need the same converter for a 904 going to 904 over the winter.
