WE don't get it? WE actually have cars. Buy and sell them regularly. Work on them constantly, whether they "need" it or not.
Good luck. Trying to bargain on a classic car because it doesn't have AC is like expecting a discount because it doesn't have a Hemi...
You would be surprised, I've done it before. You said that you have bought and sold cars, how many people have paid you exactly what you was asking for your car? I knew a guy that used the color of the car to get a better deal and it worked. Maybe you should try it

If you was to be helpful, I think that I would pass out
That's pretty much useless when you are dealing with both high temperature and humidity and allergies
I am probably older than you and I get by. If it's too hot I drive my daily drivers with air.

I understand that, but I want to be able to go to car shows and cruises without sweating. A good friend of mine has a beautiful '65 Malibu that he completely redone, he's been invited to attend the best of the best, but it's black and has no ac and him and his wife burn up going to these shows. The only 2 thing's that I think that he did wrong was, no ac and he left the brakes manual with a single reservoir master cylinder. Other than that, it's a beautiful car.

Been buying and selling for over 40 years. 90% of the time I get what I ask.
Most of the time when a seller gives you a better price because of some fluff like "the color", it's because they already had inflated their price and the offer was better than what they intended to let it go for in the first place. That's how it goes. The next guy to look at it wouldn't give two sh**s about the color, but the seller just got a better price than he actually had in mind. That's the game some play.
With me, I price things fairly, you know how it's equipped and what color it is before you come to look at it. You know the price, so it must be acceptable. Try to excessively dicker with me over that kind of stuff, or because it "isn't quite what you were looking for", and all it will get you is "escorted off my property".

My car is black, manual brakes with a dual res. master cyl.
Yes black is hot. So when you get to the car show will you run to a near by tree for shade?

bro, if I was selling a car that was advertised as no AC and you rolled up trying to bargain down the price by saying how much it would cost to install it?

I'd straight tell you to kick rocks.

I'm not saying that you do this, but pictures and descriptions can be doctored. I've had this happen to me before. And believe it or not, I'm thinking that it's a/6 car anyway. Simply because of the asking price and I brought in the picture close and I only see 1 exhaust pipe.

I've done it before and no problem. It's done with anyway as I just got the reply and it's a/6 car

Thanks everybody for helping me checking out a ac system for the scamp. I got the photos and it's a/6 car. So I'm back to looking. I should have known that with a 14k asking price but I had to check it out anyway.

It's really not that difficult to convert to a V/8, but to do it correctly is expensive.
What do you honestly think that it would cost to put a small block in it? I've researched this in the past, now I'm talking about doing it correctly, engine, transmission, brakes, exhaust, radiator, driveshaft, rear end and all of the small things. I already know that your not going to believe me, but in order to V/8 a /6 car correctly it cost around 10k.

If you come visit your Sister, swing by and check out mine

To who ever gave me a red x for the cost of putting a V/8 in place of a/6 it's not cheap, I've had the list of parts in order to do the job the right way and it's about 10k.

I believe when i did mine it was less them 2K
Most of which went to the dougs headers

If it's a really nice solid car, leave the slant where it is. Nothing wrong with that as a cruiser. Wanting all of the desirable premium stuff is going to cost more than you are willing to pay. I don't mean this as an insult......We all have a budget.

It's black... and it doesn't have AC.
That's life, a frickin train wreck.

You must have used all used parts. Just rebuilding the engine is around 3k
Lets see, the engine and transmission were used, 350 off Craigslist

I did put a cam kit in, about 250
Headers were new, 700, radiator, new, 100, exhaust 250

Mounts were used from fabo, 35 and it was 80 bucks to have rhe drives haft shortened

That leaves about 250 for nuts bolts and fluids...and that gets you a drivetrain that is as good or better then what you would find in roughly any A body that came stock with a 318...and 42 extra cubes

You forgot about the rear end, brakes. That 7 1/4" isn't going to last long behind a V/8. I, myself wouldn't put in a used engine ever again. I did that once and it was a nightmare.

Did those mounts include the brackets? V/8 mounts will not fit a/6 crossmember. By the prices that you listed I'd say that you did this year's ago. $250 would have a hard time covering the fluids, filters, hoses, belts, etc. I'm sure that you did this several years ago. But I'm glad that you did and hopefully you are still enjoying the car.
