Due to several member's expressed interest in purchasing a custom Moroso pan like the one I designed for my '69 Cuda w/Gen.3 Hemi, I have started this thread. I specifically designed the pan to fit my car which has an AlterKtion front suspension with R&P steering and TTI headers, specific to the AlterK. Please understand this pan won't fit A-body Mopars with stock K front suspension.

Although my pan was made probably a year ago or more, I have just this week confirmed they still have the CAD files and can easily produce more of this pan. They will also sell this pan and pickup for the same price I paid for mine at that time.

He is VERY BUSY at this time of year and may take a day or two to get back to you (although on a fluke, you may catch him on the first try).

Keep in mind this is not a catalog item. During your call or in your email, be sure to refer to this pan in the following manner to identify it correctly so he knows what you're talking about.

5.7 / 6.1 Hemi rear/wet sump for A-body Mopar with AlterKtion

The price is $500 for the pan without oil pickup tube, or $565 with pickup. The pickup tube has been modified to fit this pan design. The lead time from order point to shipment is 3-4 weeks. They were not open to the idea of a "group buy" for this custom pan (this is not a regular production item).

This is all I can think of to get you guys going. Feel free to ask more questions, but allow me some time to get back to you. I won't keep you hanging for long.

Attached are pics of a "mock up" pan I made from ABS plastic. You can see the pan is not concentric. Since the pan is only 6" deep, I made the sump as long and wide as possible, while having decent clearance around "obstacles". It also has a couple of special angles on the pass. side to give decent clearance to the TTI header tube back there. The mock up pan is not perfectly sized to what I wanted. However, I got it real close and wrote the absolute dimensions on the pan with special notes regarding drain plug, temp sender bung, dip stick, etc.

Here are the pics of the custom pan Moroso sent back. It's a piece of artwork! It came out REAL NICE. I'm very happy with it. A warning for anyone running studded mains: you will need to clearance the rail of the pan at the very rear for the studs/nuts. This is not the fault of Moroso, as it is built with the standard rail they use on their front sumped production pans for the LX / LC cars. I took a die grinder and ground a little clearance in two places and all is well.

Also shown are pics of the oil pickup provided and modified by Moroso. They have a Gen3 block that they fit everything up on to check for clearances. Someone mentioned maybe having Moroso change the front of this pan. I'm not sure what the change might be, but Tim told me the front of this pan cannot be made less than the 2 inches it is because of interference with the pick up tube.

Well done Cuda SRT8...kudos for following through.

FWIW if I was running an Alterktion I'd be in the queue..its a nicely designed and nice looking piece of kit.
 
That is friggin' art work that rivals anything Picaso did!!!!

Aves, the whole idea of having this pan custom built was so I could get good clearance in all respects. The starter has no problem whatsoever with this pan. Check out my build thread "CudaSRT8 392" where I'll be posting more pics on working out my best starter option. Should have more pics up later tonight...

Besides jeffneal, has anyone else ordered up one of these custom pans who expressed interest in doing so? Curious whether this was just a wasted effort...
 
I just need to confirm my measurements since my exhaust is done and tucked tight then I'm going to order one.

I plan on ordering one but will most likely be in couple weeks. It is a work of art and diffenitely worth it.

I will be getting one - most likely, ive just brought some Kooks headers and pick them up march, need to make sure they will clear the pan so need to mock them up and check measurements. Appreciate your efforts man.
 
Keep us informed on the Kooks headers. I've thought of those from way back, as they're made for the LX cars and I always wondered how they'd fit on an a-body. I believe they're made from stainless. They'd be pretty cool all polished up...

Well, it's not a regular production pan and it's coming from the "custom" department, so I'm sure they can change it any way you would like. It's just a matter of how well you're able to communicate with them as to the changes you want them to make. Keep in mind it's not a very deep pan, so you'll lose capacity quickly if you take "space" out of the square area...

I wonder if they would shorten the pan a bit at the rear for me.

I just checked my measurements and I should be Ok with the regular height you designed in. My frame rails hang down lower then the pan would.

I brought the ones for a Jeep SRT8. im hoping they will sit in nice and tight, give me a bit more space. Will be interesting to see how they fit.

Well the Kooks headers fit nice and tight, it will allow me to run RHD steering, but theres a couple of problems, 1) the left side headers hits the 727 trans where the starter motor goes. 2) they hang way too low to work, nearly 3 inches lower than the factory oil pan!

I plan to try heating the headers cherry red and bending them to fit, will let you know how it goes. The good news is they will clear your pan, so will order that next week, Thanks again!
