Hello, have a quick question about valve lash on my purple camshaft. What would be a good valve lash to start at. I got a three angle valve job with comp cam valve springs (up to 500 lift). My cam is 490/276.

Thanks,
Eddie

Mopar performance manual calls for .016 intake, and .020 exhaust.
But I have seen the numbers in the manual, as being different from what came with the cams. Still is a good starting point.

.010 intake, and .020 Exhaust. I've also seen guys do .012 and 0.22. I just did mine at .010 intake, and .020 exhaust. Motor sounds great.

Those are the lash settings for a stock cam, not the purple shaft cams. .010 is pretty tight for a performance cam.

I have that exact cam(since '89), all the /6 purple shafts are .028/.032 for the 268 deg. and up, the 244 deg. stick specs the orig. .010/.020 lash.

To add, the book specifies the lash is cold, I fooled w/the lash to adj. the cams
"personality".
