ok here goes i am gathering parts to "update"my GT drive train is almost all collected still need a 10 1/2 flywheel for 318 now for some tech info! would it be ok(or recomended different)from some of you that HAVE done /6 to SB in an early A struts?use? tortion bars?rear leafs?? and i am pretty sure il need better brakes but do NOT want to sacrifice my Rallies(14'sbp)what if any disc setup is cost effective and still let me keep 14'sbp?? i AM upgrading rear to a 8 3/4big drum sbp>
. one more thing il be using an A833 4spd i want to put 323shure grip but "someone"said i wont like the "tall" first gear im lookin at the 323s for about2400rpms @65mph any numbers you guys(or gals) may have is greatly cociderd and app. thanx

For front disc's you can go to SSBC kit A153, you will need 10" drum spindles for this kit and keep your SBP ralleys. With the 10.5 bell housing I had to fold over the firewall to floor lip as it rubbed there. I would order the big block A body torsion bars for good handling, and I would think the 323 gears should be ok, but I don't remember what my Car rpm was a 65 mph, I thnk it was slightly higher but I had low tires on it back then.
I'm not sure about your Z bar as I never did an earliy A body V8 swap to stick car before, but I bet someone on here has.

I think scarebirdbrakes.com is about the only brake swap to keep the sbp.Unless you can find a factory 4 piston setup, There was one forsale here in parts. the 323's will be good for a cruiser, if your gonna race it any i'd go with the ss springs when you swap the rear, i've runed the 6 torsion before with no problems long as there not woreout and your frontends in goodshape

The A153 kit has both the 4 & 4.5 pattern init. This kit has everything from a mater cyl, to a prop valve included, very good value IMOP.

If you look at my Dart project I explain a lot there. Mine too was a S/5 to V8 conversion. I can give you all the pointers on what I did in terms of the 4 speed change over.

so dart4forte how do i find your project?? il take ALL the tips and info ican get to make this swap as clean and easy as [ossible i was not awre i would have to "fold" back tunnel lip for 4spd bh OR 727 setup its these types of info im looking for so i wont have to keep putting it in and pulling it out(the drivetrain dirty minds)haha thanx guys

"Update on My 64 Dart project" As far as the tunnel you don't have to do much. I have a few pics that shows what I did. I probably went a little overboard. What I learned that if you use a Milodon pan you either have to modify the pan or modify the K frame. I chose the K frame. Also it helps if you install the motor without the bellhousing attached.

i'm running a 2.93, cruises 2400 rpms @ roughly 67-68mph. (but no problem getting up over 100!!!) with your 3.23's, to hit 65 mph your going to be probably at or exceeding the 3000rpm mark and it will probably run out to about 90mph depending how far you want to push the motor. depends on the rear tire size as well but your still limited there. the 3.23's are great for stoplight drags but not so much for a highway cruiser.

optik im not much of a mathamagician but im running 3.55s with 31/10.50s a"freshened"sb727 in a 65 panel (id guess around 5000 lbs or better)and im turning2800rpms @60squash the carpet and itl downshift hold there til it kicks back into driveat 3500reading 75 andwell thats bout as far as il push the beast with straight axle frontend and drum brakes i guess my point somewhere was some thing but who knows sorry for ramblin but id sure think over a buck flat out shouldnt be that many rs who knows il let you know when its done

You'd have to have pretty tall back tires to be pulling 2400rpm @ 65 mph with 3.23 gears. Check out www.tciauto.com - they have a bunch of calculators for working out rpms, tire height etc. On my '63 I was running 3.23s with 235/60x15 rear tires and was running about 3000rpm to stay with the traffic on tghe freeway. I've just put 2.76s in and it's much more relaxed and gets better gas mileage too. 1st gear is pretty tall - I have a 2.66 1st gear 833 but the stock 318 pulls it easy enough - probably wouldn't be happy with a big cam in it tho.
