zero deck block, domed pistons, approximate 63cc chamber before chamber work, and on alcohol. My budget builds are usually in the hole but this is the 408 I’m currently building that I bought from a friend. This block was squared and came in at zero deck. I usually throw a Felpro head gasket and bolt it together. This is getting Cometics ordered for it because of the higher compression. I’m planning on ordering them around .045 thick for this combo. Any pros or cons about this thickness. Hope to order them next week.

If the CR is where you want it, run it. If it’s low, you can squeeze it down some, but I never go under .040 just because.

With the dome and the deck cut the compression is up there with is s good thing with alcohol. Thanks I think I go with the .045

or .040 or .035 not over .045 and I would not go that thick
pistons tight in the bores whatever was required and not some old worn out Fordgetrues

Brandy new Wiseco pistons

I'd be interested in seeing where your total timing likes to be when you test..

Cut it for o rings. What will your compression be?

I'm interested in what manifold you're using and turtle, if any ?

Kinda look like my new slugs... I bought Cometics, too but ordered Magnum not LA's by mistake. .029 IIRC... looking for 14-1 I guess.

My block/heads were originally o-ringed.

I’m using an Indy intake I modified for Edelbrock heads. I also have the Super Victor I ran with sitting here that a ran low 9.70’s with too if needed. I’m not one to buy into trying tricks so I won’t be using a turtle.

FWIW.... I just put together a 4-banger with .028" quench gap on a 3.64" bore with forged Arias pistons at .005" bore clearance..... A bit nervous, but so far so good with some mild romping on it. I am more comfortable up at .040". I suspect PBR's engine is gonna see a bunch more forces moving stuff around....

OK I'll bite
What is with all the punch marks around the ports on the intake?

.043 ring package. Deal was to good to pass up. He threw in a set of rings for 100.00 and those get pretty expensive.
Are you sure you don't want to do a compression calculation before
You order the gaskets. Me thinks major compression there, like 14:1.

That is gonna be major compression. What are you hoping for?

Honestly I didn’t have a number in mind as I run alcohol. I probably wouldn’t have even ran the numbers but a couple of guys were curious in my 408 engine post. I believe I will be truly testing the strength of a stock block with this compression and 325cfm heads.
