Cometic told me last year that after more testing, they are now saying that Ra50 is an acceptable finish. My heads measured 40
And my block deck measured 60. The deck was not the best but I let it go. I used hylomar sealer around all the water and oil passages.
Time will tell if it works lol.

Well looks like I was wrong on my compression number. I must of fat Fingerd a number. Lol useing the Wallace racing culator. Useing a fel pro 1008 that is .039 compressed It shows 11.07 compression. Now if i put in a cometic gasket .027 my compression is 11.43
So I don't know how I got 12.1 compression. Lol

Well thank God I ordered my Cometics today because with this damn shutdown things are all messed up. Don at 4secondsflat.com said his last set took 19 days. Now for the really bad news. They make them in Ohio (I live in PA) but they have to ship them across the country to Oregan then back to PA. So I guess I'll see them in 30 days or so.

I’m glad I did pull my 422 out of my Duster yet. Lol. That engine may be seeing more use if the tracks ever open and I if I ever get my income tax money back. 9 weeks waiting this Wednesday and no 1200.00 yet either.

I don’t know how he is swinging that. I went directly to Cometic and I have a ship date of May 11. Wait...that may be 19 days..damn I’m getting old.
Don said the big issue is the shipping department being shut down. Probably working with less employees I’m guessing too.

Yep. And they don’t make gaskets and put them on the shelf.
I will admit that I puss’d out. I had the choice to buy the .040 gaskets and get my CR to 11.51:1 or, I could man up and drop to the .028 gaskets and get to a straight 12.0:1. Like I said...I puss’d out. I split the difference and went with an .036 gasket and that makes me 11.66:1.
I would have went for the 12.0:1 had I told Jim at Racer Brown I would stay at 11.5:1 so I didn’t want to push it that hard. That’s what happens when you get old(ER). When I was young, I’d have done the higher CR so fast my head would spin.
I ended up ordering.045 as I can spare some compression.
Ok I got the shipping issue straightened out with the help of a friend. Now they are getting shipped directly to me when they are done. It’s not like I need them today or even two weeks from now the way I’ve been working in the shop. Lol. My shop chair is now molded perfectly for my fat azz. I did roll a head over on my porting bench today.

Much like , if we fly anywhere almost , we have to fly to dallas and then to the destination, many times flying almost right back over Tulsa , dumbest sh-- I `ve ever heard !! Talk about wasting fuel !
Getting that shipping issue addressed saved me probably at least 7 days and how much in shipping costs. And who knows how bad things will be in three weeks. It’s sure not getting any better in Pa.
It keeps getting worst in Michigan. I'm guessing the Woodward Dream Cruise in the middle of August isn't going happen. Keep safe out there.
Ya lots of things being canceled. Heck we had high winds and snow here yesterday but that doesn’t help out mentally. Racers are ready to race.

Here too. 32 Celsius and snow flurries yesterday, it ain't quite spring yet.
Ya us too. The day before we had 70 mph winds. Last night it was 24 degrees. A few more weeks before we might get a break. O and the mud! Nothing in my yard is moving right now. And I see these guys painting outside in Arizona. I hope they know how lucky they are.
Maybe I'm wrong but isn't 32 C like 90 F. Too hot to paint? lol

Weird gas porting arrangement with 9 big holes. I've never had much luck with Wisecos in anything from 2 strokes to big blocks. I strive for .036"-.039" quench in most cases. J.Rob
