Do any of you guys that painted your hoods flat or satin have regrets.
I have a 74 duster in Stryker green pearl that I’m struggling with going flat, satin, or glossy on the hood.
I’m thinking glossy With maybe a very subtle gold pearl would be the easiest to take care of however the flat and satin seem more popular.
Your input here would really help me to solidify my decision on what way to go.

Always did mine satin. No waxing required, but you had to be very careful what got on it like bird crap...

use this it never stains . And if you get wax on it you don't see it. Wipe water beads and stains right off. I won't use anything else. easy to match and easy to spray.

I can say gloss would be not good, too much glare and if going for factory look, the TA Cudas I did decades ago, were painted with Organsol Black or some name similiar. It was expensive back then.

I used organisol (the original stuff) and regretted it - it was terrible to care for and any wax from adjacent paint was a nightmare. Last time I went with gloss black and never looked back. If you actually drive your car the answer is obvious.

^^^ I agree that Oganisol was a ***** to take care off, but it was OEM correct too. I like Oldmanmopars black he uses. Sounds like the deal to me.
A gloss black hood to me, is like having a gloss colored dash, plenty of people do it and like it I just don't.

Well, I actually drive the sh1t out of my Dart and the satin holds up just fine! so maybe, just maybe, the answer isn’t obvious

It matches the black stripes perfect. The paint is black. I won a show a while back for best body and paint. Here are some more pictures. on some pics the glare makes it look gray but it is black. When used with the black ladder stripe on the hood you cannot tell the difference next to the tape stripe. Also used on dash boards and interior doors on a V24 option car

May I ask where you ordered the paint from please, is the paint made by Cross Fire

Mine is satin- There is a common name for it " Hot Rod Black"

Dont do it flat black it will look like a chalkboard. I had a car primered in black and every morning the dew would leave dirt all over it.

Now in satin black, before in flat black - difficult colour, never looked evenly...

Satin black correspondends good with the black of the stripe kit, which is also a satin-like black.

Btw:

the craze with the blacked out hoods came out of the Rallye sport.
It should avoid glare (from headlights of other cars), when driving, racing in the nighttime.

Nearly all european Rallye cars in the late sixies had blacked out hoods:
