I have a 1964 Barracuda that I'm putting a 360 into.
The stock radiator is the 19" core.
Right now with the 360 in place and using the alum. water pump housing, I have 2.25" from fan to radiator mount. I'm am using the stock fan and spacer (which I think is 2").
I need help on finding a radiator that will cool about 400bhp and also fit in the stock opening. Is this possible?
Can I shorten the fan spacer if needed?
Any help and thoughts on this would be appreciated.
I don't mind going aluminum.
Thanks
Mark

I have a radiator from my 318 that cools fine and i dont use a spacer or shroud. My 360 has about 350 hp. Plus it leaksa nd it is 35 years old. Just get a good sensor and gauge and watch it. You should be ok as long as the temp outside don't get to 140 degrees

I'm going to have the same problem as you when I get around to putting in my 340. I'd appreciate hearing what you end up doing as far as a radiator is concerned.

:burnout:

I also have one of those radiators. I can't remember what size I have offhand but I went for the biggest I could fit between frame rails. I did also cut the opening to get the most air in also. Not a great thing if you want to retain the factory sheetmetal but that was not a worry after already cutting the fenderwells out for headers. I have had no problems with it at all. It works so good that I have to block off part of it when it's cold out or it won't warm up for quite a while.

Can I shorten the fan spacer if needed?[quote/]

look in the local yards.. there is one that is only like an inch thick.. i used that on my 64 360 valiant... thought it came from a 6 cyl. car but don't really remember...

as far as an alumn rad. i got one from summit for $189 i think it was. no complaints here.. works great.

The stock radiator support is cut for a 19 inch radiator, in 1964. :(

In 1965 the V8 cars had the option of a 22 inch wide radiator.
{And maybe the 6 cyl with a/c, and or trailer towing etc.}

If you want to keep the car original looking you can get the core changed to a 3 core, or 4 core if you want.

US Radiator sent me a quote, before I found out I was ok with my
stock 273 radiator, for the 318.

My 318, I am using Casting # 302 heads, stock 273 exhaust manifolds,
with dual exhaust.
a Mopar cam, .430/.450 lift,
an old Edelbrock LD4B intake, with a # 1406 Edelbrock electric choke carb.
Electronic ignition, 180 f High flow t'stat.

The only time it has run a little warm was on a 90f day, in a traffic jam.

Dear Sir,
I am responding to your inquiry regarding a radiator for your vehicle.

Yes, we definitely can make a 4 row core radiator for your application. We offer 3 different types of cores, "Standard" 4 row, "High Efficiency" 4 row (same cooling capacity as a 5 row) and "Optima" 4 row (same cooling capacity as a 6 row core).

The prices are as follows:
Standard 4 row: $290.00
4 row High Efficiency: $357.00
4 row Optima: $388.00
Tripleflow: $448.00

The triple flow is basically a 4row Optima core with baffles or walls soldered inside of the tanks which routes the water 3 times before it exits. Water goes in on the driver side, flows downward, goes up in the middle section, goes down, finally reaching the lower hose and exiting next. By staying inside the radiator longer, the water dissipates more heat. You gain approximately 15% more temperature drop.

We'll ship from 2-4 weeks after you order.
We'll ship via UPS.
The radiator comes with a 1 year warranty.

Thank You.
Respectfully.
