Now I see it; CAP C2 is the AVC capacitor. If you only want to do the minimum, then swap this cap.

Good morning all,

I appreciate all the input, I have considered it and have decided to work on converting my am radio myself to hold the guts of a new fm and bluetooth amp. I am looking at something like the following (see link below) for the guts of it and hope to use the original potentiometer for on/off and volume. I'll be honest I dont know what I'm doing here but I have some experience with wiring and electronics but if anyone has experience or insights on doing this I welcome it.

Educate us. What can we look for in the future to get these Bendix 222 radios 1965 CircuiTrace Bendix Radio back up and running? Common cap fault areas?

Pishta - There are some pics of the ones I replaced in this thread. I just changed the one(double) which had cracked.
Radio cleaning and pre-emptive cap. repair?
