For a 10.7:1 comp and a small hyd cam motor,I dont think it runs too bad right now!!!! Just curious if your SS springs are moved in any?? 1/4's stretched any and what size rim and back space??
Thanks and nice looking duster!!!
Thanks, i actually have communicated with you on the Moparts board, the springs are in stock location the front spring hangers are reversed and it has a 67 B' body diff that fits perfect. The rims are 15 by 8" with a 5.5 backspacing. On my other Duster in my avatar it had 15 by 8.5" centerlines with 4 7/8 bs. IMO that is the absolute bs you can have with a stock A body housing with springs in stock location.

I thought so but wasnt sure. :-D Im STILL undecided on the bs of the 10" I need to buy. I hope my heap runs as good as your!!!

Ok DusterDoug and MadDart, its all steel but has 2 Jaz front buckets, no rear seat, radio, heater, and wiper motor or front bumper (as of now), mild steel 6 point bar with home made 2" by 2" .120 frame connectors. Id gander to say maybee 3100 lbs with out driver?

8 3/4 with 4.10s and spool, 002 and 003 springs with stock shocks(my down fall?) my pinion angle might be 8* also, i believe the tire dia is 27.75. Has a 8" convertor ,not sure of flash yet. Low gear Pro Trans 904 no trans brake.

.040 '71 360 with a 4340 eagle crank and good rods, The LA RhS heads were were done by Erik Jones in Lancaster, Factory LS1 2.02 and 1.625 valves, bowls blended and guide bosses smooth a bit on the intake side, milled to 58.8 ccs. Not sure of flow data on heads. Hedman 1 /78 headers with 3" flowmaster exh.

Ross forged quench pistons yeiding around 10.7, custom ground Comp Cams hyd roller with .519 in- .549 exh 254-264 at .050 on a 106 installed on 101.3/4 or should i say 102. Hughes 1.5 rockers with factory mopar banana groove shafts, std victor intake with a OTB holley 80496 950 HP. ohh also i have a 1" four hole spacer , maybee a open might be better. heres a few pics.

Your car has a high 10 in it, I assure you.

Specifically, stock A-body shocks will never work with SS springs. Those shocks with extensions, or a C-body shock MIGHT work, but you really need a shock that get to at least 50/50 valving.

I wouldn't change ONE thing until I get it to hook. Then I would consider the relationship between the low gear set and a "redone" converter that wasn't "redone" to YOUR combination.

I'll say one more thing, if I had this car and ran those numbers in the Bakersfield early Sept "air", through the muffs...basically street trim...I'd be pretty happy.

DD, Thanks for your words of encouragement , i plan to do that exactley before i start on jetting/timing etc etc, next time out will be rear shocks and a bit more air pressure in the tires. Oh ive watch the vid of your friends white Duster a bunch latley.

I should add that in addition to the correct valving, the shocks need to be long enough to not "top out" and unload the tires. SS springs like to stretch quite a bit. When you put something else on, support the car on jackstands underneath the frame rails and let the rear hang down. With the shock on the top stud, pull it down and see it if it's long enough to reach the bottom stud. If not...they won't work when the SS springs work.

The description of your first run sounds EXACTLY like that's what happened. Did it do the same on the second run? The 60' and ET did pick up quite a bit...

That video of Ken's car is the only way I can see the car run lately. Front End is apart for a freshen...Wilwoods are here but between the 2 of us, we've only had time to work on it about a day and a half. But when we do get out...we ought to save some "AIR"!!

this isnt bad at all

in august mine ran 11.05 @ 122 mp/h

the engine consist of

1973 .040 over
scatt serie 9000 cranck 4.0'' stroke
w2 race heads fully ported
1.6 harland sharp rockers
10.27 cr.
m1 intake 1/2 spacer
dynamic 9 inch converter

full trim car even with a complete stereo sisteme
sub woofer and everything

it ran 10.79 at miramichi last falls

with better air and running about the same here where I leave 11.06
so better track condition help alote

also hade the same problem as your the tires was unloading
I fix that with clamps behind the tires about 1 inch

it cure the problem with out shock only 4 pieces of flat barre and 8 bolts

maybe you can try the same
