Texas rat snake (aka “chicken snake”) looks a lot like a copperhead.

Coooerhead banding goes all the way around their body, their pupils are shaped like a cats, and their heads are a triangular.

Texas rat snake banding stops on their side (belly does not have not have markings), their pupils are round, and their heads are not triangular. A 5’er is not uncommon.

Are they poisonous bob ?
 
Found a hatchling from a clutch I watched mama lay. It was heading for the lake and my wife saved the little guy the long and dangerous walk. Considered it a nice birthday gift. :)
