That is quite something! Shows how strong and thick the metal is on the cars back in the day. Plus it helps there are lots of sharp 180 degree corners which makes it even more difficult to deform.

Okay, that's got me sportin' wood. The hemi road runner of Warbirds. These planes were much more complex, than most realize.
