I did some customization on my lawn mower today. I got tired of the long rubber flap on the back flattening the grass as I mowed.

I took it off and cut it down from 5.5" long to 2.75". It now sits just 1/4” higher than a flat hard surface but it will still drag across the top of the grass to pattern it while mowing without flattening it to the ground.

I then used the piece I cut off to fashion a front skirt that sits 1.5” off the ground that effectively lifts and fluffs the grass blades to get them to stand up ahead of the blades cutting them.

I mowed the lawn afterward and it all works great!

I like the ground effects. May have to do that to mine over the winter. That way, it's possible it'll be done by middle of summer.

Growing up in Ohio, I used to cringe at those nearly horizontal quarter panel areas behind the rear wheels...
.
...knowing what kind of salt laden black snow/ice/slush tended to get thrown up onto that area of cars in that climate
